Don't Rush To Write Off Limbaugh, Analysts Say He's lost 11 advertisers since using crude language to describe a student for her views on birth control, but analysts say his huge audience should allow him to thrive.
Analysts say the size of radio commentator Rush Limbaugh's audience should allow him to continue to thrive despite a loss of advertisers over his crude comments about a female student's views on birth control. By James Rainey and Matea Gold
March 5, 2012 A new week greeted Rush Limbaugh with four more advertiser defections, for a total of 11, along with a sharp rebuke from former Republican presidential nominee John McCain. Peter Gabriel asked that his song "Sledgehammer" no longer be used on Limbaugh's radio program.
Even after Limbaugh issued a rare apology, the furor that had erupted when the conservative radio host called an activist law student a "slut" and a "prostitute" showed no sign of abating Monday.
But a backlash that might be a career-breaker for some commentators seemed unlikely to dent Limbaugh's considerable stature among his 15 million weekly listeners and conservative leaders.
The criticism delivered by most Republican officeholders was muted. One political action committee stepped up to buy even more advertising on his program. All of which suggested that "The Rush Limbaugh Show" might be too big to fail.
The controversy began last week, when the radio host addressed President Obama's proposal that health insurance provide free birth control. Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke spoke at a congressional hearing in favor of that idea, only to be attacked by Limbaugh.
He described the 30-year-old as one of a group of "feminazis" who effectively wanted government to subsidize their sexual activity, and he demanded, "We want you to post the [sex] videos online so we can all watch."

Should?
Will.
Miss fluke is trying to force the Catholc Church violate their tenet on life.
I condemn her comments.
McCain is a bigger idiot than Carter. Quite a feat.
Stock up on Two if by Tea.
There is an upside to this. As a longtime listener, I was getting bored to tears with Sleep Number and Carbonite ads. I can’t wait for the new sponsors to come aboard which they inevitably will.
>> female student’s views on birth control.
31 year old, Leftwing activist.
This is just like that time all the insane lefties demanded that people cancel their HBO subscriptions after Bill Maher Called Sarah Palin a T_ _ _ _ and a C_ _ _ _.
No wait, that was in an alternative reality where Robery Byrd would actually be criticized for using the N Word on national television.
>> Peter Gabriel
Didn’t he do the soundtrack to Last Temptation of Christ?
Limbaugh = “Too Big to Fail”
I like that!
>> along with a sharp rebuke from former Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
Sharp as a warm stick of butter.
Oh, no! Peter Gabriel!!! THIS Peter Gabriel? http://youtu.be/p_EYU75uhKk
Did Rush Limbaugh try to sell arms to Muslim terrorists?
Has Rush Limbaugh written more Cap&Trade bills than Algore?
Does Rush Limbaugh take money from George Soros?
Then shut the hell up, McCain!
She is a 30+ year old professional agitator. When I was her age I was also a student, but I had been running my own business for 10 years and I had gone back to school to work on a second career.
Also, she needs birth control like a fish needs a bicycle. If she isn't a lesbian, then there aren't any lesbians.
Those “consistent constitutional conservative” Ron Paul people sure are in a hurry to get Rush’s free speech revoked...
Rush will be alright...he has the biggest audience on radio. Advertisers leave but listeners won’t. Imus picked up a bigger audience after his gaffe. The libtards just failed to knock him out this time.
This would be a good opportunity for Rush Limbaugh to change his theme song. Part of the agreement for its use is an agreement that ultimately leads to a contribution to the ultra-liberal PETA outfit.
My personal preference would be to rotate among various patriotic songs such as "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood or perhaps some stirring, traditional Sousa marches. And now that Hank Williams, Jr. no longer is associated with Monday Night Football, there could be a introduction done by Bocephus, a good Conservative. Even though I don't care for hard rock, Ted Nugent's songs would be a good change from "My City was Gone", which has gotten tired and worn out in my opinion.
Legal Zoom is very annoying. As a lawyer I realize they are bottom fishing for do-it-yourselfer types, but then I get to see the ill prepared wills, trusts and LLC's that result. Makes for litigation opportunities later, but it's not a service to most of the uninitiated who think they are saving a buck. Plus, I hate Robert Shapiro for his role in helping O.J. Simpson gain an acquittal in the criminal trial.
The others? I don't use now, but I'll be sure to not use them in the future.
It's the silent boycott. No need for slogans and campaigns - just quietly refuse to patronize these folks.
Interesting how McCain is not attacking the obvious homosexual sexual harassment by government contraception welfare mandate.
I did not know McCain was so blind, hypocritical or cowardly to attack those calling government sponsored and paid homosexual rapists like Fluke sluts.
Isn’t it like accusing a child victim of a pedophile rape a heinous kid for calling the perp a slut?
But if so, she is a prime candidate for excommunication or at least forbidden communion at Mass (if she were to attend at all), and I would not mind having a bishop recommend it for consideration to the Pope. What she is trying to set is an extremely dangerous precedent in the USA, she is truly doing the Dark One's evil bidding, whether she knows it or not. Talk about entitlement! Talk about no public shame in the midst of sin or in tarnishing one's family's name and reputation?
Though they all advertise on other venues, most are Conservative and I doubt that the majority of their business comes from Far Left Moonbats who are claiming they will no longer buy their products/services and is simply a concerted effort by the Lib Loons to try silence Rush.
