Breaking: PPP Tennessee GOP Primary Three Way Tie

Contra Michigan, early voting may save Santorum in TN. Basically a 3 way tie among election day voters, but he's up with early ones.

Are you being obtuse on purpose, or are you not very bright? I mean, I’ll let you answer, but it clearly is one of the two.

Santorum did win four states, but not every “state win” is equal. A caucus is not equal to a primary, and a small primary is not equal to a big primary - though they are all “a state.”

Now, if that is too complicated for you, we have nothing more to discuss. And Santorum is actually counting on the fact that it IS INDEED too complicated for folks to understand, because he does equate his 8 vote win in teeny tiny Obama loving Iowa the equivalent of a huge turn out in SC and Florida.

So maybe you didn’t follow this after all, come to think of it. You are who he had in mind when he was pretending to equate those states .

True - he won a mandate in Missouri. Only Romney and Santorum have won actual mandates against the rest of the field.

So in actuality, if we aren’t looking at pluralities, it’s 1:1 Santorum vs Romney.

The last poll I saw, covering up to last Saturday, had Santorum at 40%.

An essentially three-way tie would be excellent news. I'd hate to see Santorum win TN easily, much less at all.

Yesterday his supporters were crying foul over his screw ups regarding Ohio delegates.

Santorum doesn't even have a slate of registered delegates in TN; evidently the party will pick him some if he wins any.

A mandate in Missouri? Really? Missouri’s delegates are chosen by caucus in March. What he won was a beauty contest that Newt didn’t even join the ballot for.

Might I just remind you that Ohio has 66 proportional delegates, Georgia has 76 proportional delegates. Newt will win GA with a big enough margin to win MOST of the delegates. Ohio will be split, with Rick losing out on many that he could have gotten.

In other words, GEORGIA IS THE PRIZE ON TUESDAY, NOT OHIO! I am tired of the MSM ignoring us (GA) just because it is Newt and not Mitt that’s winning here. Or is it because we are a Southern state not an old “Rust Belt” Northern state.

Sorry, my Southern pride is being tweaked a bit! :))))))

“that Newt didn’t even join the ballot for.”

Oh really? So you mean that if Newt were to drop out Santorum would be defeating Romney?

Odd that.

Yes, Santorum won a mandate in Missouri. Yes, Newt wasn’t there so we have a pretty good idea what happens in a primary with just Santorum and no Newt.

THIS family is traveling to Tennessee tomorrow to vote for Newt! I can’t see myself voting for Santo ever much less in an election as important as this one.

Well, it's survival time for the Republic.

There is a way for Newt to sweep Super Tuesday.

It's not too late for Newt and Sarah to have that long phone conversation and announce a joint Newt/Sarah team for President/Vice President.

". . And if I am nominated, I have asked Sarah Palin, and she has accepted, to be the Vice Presidential nominee. I ask you America, for the sake of our Sacred Republic, to vote for us on Super Tuesday." . .

I’ve already been through this argument with LeopoldvonRanke about binding and non-binding. Apparently, he (or she) still doesn’t get it or doesn’t want to understand it.

I hope that Tennessee goes for Santorum, though a Gingrich win there would be acceptable. The worst thing possible would be for Santorum and Gingrich to split the conservative vote. This has happened in Tennessee in a number of statewide elections lately.

This was so predictable. Santorum is going to collapse, and be washed away by a Gingrich tidal wave in the South on Super Tuesday. He looks to be in big trouble in Ohio too.

Well, hey! Let's all cheer that Santorum's in Ohio. I'm starting to think these "Newtonians" are actually "Romnians". Such glee at the race being handed over to Romney.

I support Newt Gingrich because he, in my opinion, is the most well equipped to take on the left. I see Rick struggling as an opportuntity for Newt.

I do not dislike Rick.
I do not hate Rick.
I do not take glee in Rick’s struggles.
In supporting Newt I am not for Romney.

It is contrary to Santorum supporter’s goals to continue repeating the 4 absurdities above.

Well, actually..... If you reeeeaaaally want to stop Romney in Ohio then all of the Santorum supporters should vote for NEWT because NEWT has qualified for ALL of the delegates in OHIO, unlike Rick. Same thing in TN. And if you don’t, then you must secretly be rooting for Romney /sarcasm

How does that make YOU, a Santorum supporter feel? :)

Now, why don’t we ALL stay in, deny Romney of as many delegates as we can, force HIM to drop out and then settle it at the Convention. LOL!

I'm all in! But comments about how Rick was destined to crash and burn aren't helpful, IMHO.

I'm glad to hear it but many others have sneered about "Little Ricky" said stupid things about his record or beliefs. And those people love it when Santorum falls in the polls. However I am truly sorry if you weren't one of them and I spoke out of turn.

I hope Gingrich does well in TN. This mid-state voter has been pushing very hard. I want to remind the voters that you also select delegates in this vote. Go with Perry and Gingrich. There are 3 pages of delegates to choose from.

No need to be sorry. People are passionate. I’m sure my enthusiasm for Newt comes off the wrong way sometimes.

This would be pretty amazing, given that Rasmussen just had a poll for yesterday which showed a 2-way tie, with GIngrich 14 points behind. (34/30/18).

I can understand if Santorum was “collapsing”, and Gingrich getting his voters, that PPP would see a 2-way tie with Gingrich and Romney, and Santorum trailing.

But how would you get from the Rasmussen friday poll to a 3-way tie, unless Romney also was losing a significant share of support? And why would Romney be losing support after winning Michigan and Washington?

Unfortunately, a “twitter” is not something you can actually analyze for clues, so I guess we’ll have to wait for the full poll report to see.

I love the South and in no way intend to slight Southern states. (My wife happens to be from Savannah!) You’re right... Georgia does have more proportional delegates and a big win there for Newt Gingrich would help keep him in the race for at least a little while longer. When I speak of Ohio being a key state on Tuesday, I’m referring to it being the crucial “swing state” that the Republicans MUST win in November to win the presidency. We know the Republicans are going to carry Georgia no matter who becomes the nominee. But if Romney ends up taking the Ohio primary, it’s only going to further cement this belief among the GOP establishment that Romney gives the Republican party the best chance to beat Obama in November by appealing most to voters in purple states. And thus they’ll further twist the arms of conservative voters into lining up behind Romney. I think it’s safe to say that I and most others here certainly do NOT want that!

Santorum is collapsing so fast even some of his dedicated supporters no longer see him as a good bet.

Do you have a link to any "dedicated supporters" abandoning Santorum, in Tennessee or elsewhere?

The only prominent defection we've seen recently was Gingrich's Tennessee co-Chair jumping ship to Santorum. An unexplainable switch to be sure, if the polls are correct.
