Santorum, Gingrich Target Obama at GOP Dinner in Ohio
By Seema Mehta
March 3, 2012 Bowling Green, Ohio Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich courted GOP activists at a party dinner Saturday night, each painting a dire picture of America's straits, arguing that the nation's very soul is at stake in this upcoming election and saying that they were the candidate best suited to take on President Obama.
Santorum, who delivered a fiery speech about the nation's heritage, clearly received the warmer reaction, with the hundreds of GOP voters gathered in a university student union leaping to their feet four times during his speech to give him a standing ovation.
He said that the United States is better than all other nations because it was founded on the premise that each person is granted rights not by the government but by God.
"We declared the truth, that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. Unalienable -- you can't take them away. They were given to you because you were created by God and each one has dignity and value," Santorum said. " Where does that concept come from? Does it come from Islam? Does it come from other cultures around the world? Are men and women treated equally? Are adults and children treated equally? No. It comes from our culture and tradition -- the Judeo-Christian ethic, that is where this comes from, this sense of equality."
But Americans' rights and liberty are doomed if Obama's healthcare law goes into effect, he said.

Serious answer for a serious question. Newt said he would repurpose funds already allocated to NASA from other projects to the moon base. And he said the private sector would be 80-90% of the funding, not all. More privatization is the direction space exploration is headed worldwide, and that’s a wonderful direction to go in. I am less concerned with whether the deadline of 8 years is met than with the fact that we just get started on the fundamental national security goal of exploring and exploiting space.
Just an aside: If you have any contacts with the Newt organization, tell them their Winning Our Future SuperPac radio ads running in WI are really lame. They need to hire a different ad agency if they hope to convince people to vote for Newt.
Either of these Conservatives can beat BO if they stay true to their conservative roots.
Stop attacking Santorum supporters because you don't agree. That's what libs do.
OK...thanks.
I dearly wish I had more professors like Newt in my lifetime. Hearing him tell stories from American history in his various speeches has been absolutely riveting and electrifying. I'm planning to see if there are audio books or other speeches out there where I can get some really in-depth history lessons as told by him. He truly knows how to captivate, entertain and educate an audience like few other individuals I've seen.
I haven’t had any communication with anyone involved with the Newt campaign or SuperPAC. I’ve e-mailed them, posted Facebook and Twitter messages and the like, but haven’t gotten any communication from them other than they started following me on Twitter. ;) I’m just a guy in Pennsylvania who finally sees the first candidate running since Ronald Reagan who is actually worthy of and qualified for the presidency and have someone I can get behind 100%.
After hearing Santorum supporters constantly say exactly what you're describing in thread after thread for weeks, your objection rings hollow.
I have nothing personal against Newt and will vote for him if he's the most viable conservative alternative to Romney when the WI primary is held in April.
Never.
Are you dreaming? Best debate performances, oh wait, it’s too late. I need to finish some web work and get up for church.
Temper yourself so you can direct others.
All fair and equal.
Oh, I definitely agree! Newt’s Nasties© would rather see Romney win than consider voting for Rick to stop Romney. How many more primaries/caucuses does Newt have to come in 3rd or 4th (behind Ron Paul FPS!) before they’ll admit he’s not gaining ground? Will lightening finally strike after Romney’s well on his way to the nomination? Ya, I’m not holding my breath either.
*******************
Newt nasties simply because they don’t agree with you about Santorum? That means we prefer Romney to win?
OK....
No, it's because they take any opportunity to bash Santorum over any silly thing. If you don't fit that shoe, don't put it on.

OK, I won’t wear that shoe as I am giving and there is at least one Santorum supporter that is just dyin’ to try that shoe on.
I can’t miss an opportunity to allow a Santorum fan to wear that glass slipper. Just as they can’t miss an opportunity to poke Newt supporters.
This is a two-way street. Gingrich takes hits and Santorum does, too.
No problem...I'll stay on the right side of the street.
“So none of us should reject any candidate except Romney, he’s the only unacceptable choice.”
The Massachusetts Taxman never backed away from Arbeitsziehungslager. He’s trying to shove it down the states throats, along with other Federal Shackles, the salary insulated Exempt Ones want.
Amen!
Can you tell me what he said that was so 'terrific'?
There is not a single thing about Santorum I find appealing as a conservative.
Do you think his big gov't religious conservatism is going to win Independents?
