After 18 terms representing Washington state's 6th District in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Norm Dicks announced Friday he will not be running again for office.
"After 44 years, I think it's time to retire. I've had a great run. We won the tankers, we've taken the dams out of the Elwha (River), we're putting new schools on the defense bases. I feel I've been blessed and the people of the 6th District have been great in their support of me over 18 elections," said Dicks. "But at some point you have to retire. I've decided this is that point."

Too bad he can’t take Murray and Cantwell with him.
Ha! Looks like the FBI reports had found something juice on Dicks!
Good bye gas bag! So glad when that over inflated turd leaves office!
Ladies and Gentlemen I will not run again. After 44 years I have accrued enough cash and favors to live like a millionaire for the rest of my life off of the munificent Congressional retirement, and what I have salted away from lobbyists and insider information.
It will finally be official! The entire Congress without dicks!
He is old but he has the right handle for Fluke.
Norm Dicks!
I bet Barney Frank isn’t going to like this. One less dick in congress.
I am starting to wonder with so many not seeking re-election... do any of them have fears of being in office during a gov’t collapse?
Our congressional representation is going to be Dickless.
No problem for the Dems. They’ll replace Dicks with Wiener.
It was said that Tom Foley had WAREHOUSES full of office furniture and antiques squirreled away in Eastern WA that he brought home from DC after he was drummed out of the Speakership.
How did I know he was a democrat???
They don’t mention it until the eigth paragraph!!
eighth,eighth,eighth.
If it had been a Republican it would have been in the first paragraph and then followed with the comment-'and this increases the Democrats chance of retaking the House'
The first paragraph? It would have been in the headline then the first sentence of the first paragraph plus speculation on whether this would help DemocRATS retake Congress.
He won in ‘10 with 58%.
Just from eyeballing it, I’d have to say the new district is fairly similar to the old one. I’d have to say Democrat favored.
Frank was already ahead of Dicks out the door.
