...What sets Breitbart and Palin and others such as Allen West, Herman Cain as well as many others (including Ron Paul, as misguided as he is about defense and who’s fault it is for the hate that exists in the Mideast) is that they are all in the fight and they have stood against liars and cheats and coercive radical revolutionaries and it really has taken all of their effort and focus to do so. They took the extra steps and went the extra mile because they understand what is going on and what is at stake. And Andrew was a true gladiator at that...

Well said.

Andrew Breitbart was a noble man. In his honor I would institute the Breitbart NOBLE Prize in Dishonest Journalism. After all, Breitbart was all about exposing and mocking the corrupt news media.

It would be announced that $1000 would be given to Media Matters to help it continue its dishonest and corrupt practices in the name of the Noble Prize winner who would never make such a donation due to the fact these people harbor no personal charity. They just leech off of others.

Breitbart knew the best way to root out these rats is to trivialize, mock, and embarrass them.

On a more dignified level, one of our more conservative universities should establish a Breitbart chair of Journalism.

Really going to miss this guy. Terribly sad for his family.

Breitbart was a passionate conservative so it makes perfect sense that he was a member of FreeRepublic.

Thanks for posting some of his writing here.

Thanks for this post. Just bought the kindle version of Hollywood Interrupted. Look forward to curling up with it on a rainy day. RIP Breitbart.

"He should be put on the FR memorial wall if he has not been already."

Add my "Amen" to that idea. Andrew Breitbart stood up and walked tall for all of us.

He really was an American Original. Some people actually do leave a vacuum when they depart...he is one of them.

"Andrew Breitbart was a noble man. ... Breitbart was all about exposing and mocking the corrupt news media. ... Breitbart knew the best way to root out these rats is to trivialize, mock, and embarrass them..."

Yes. This is what Breitbart-the-Monster-Killer knew:

"....Liberals, of course, want us to understand the terrorists. But one of the first things I learned in my psychoanalytic training is that real empathy has nothing to do with reinforcing someone's delusions just to make them feel better. Rather, it must involve things like confrontation, interpretation, clarification, etc.

"So the most empathic thing you could do ......would be to confront them with the truth of which they are so desperately in need, for a mind deprived of truth still "needs to eat," but it will feed on lies, which in turn creates a monster. You do not flatter them with the monstrous lie -- as did Secretary of State Clinton [ in January 2011] -- that "you folks have your politically motivated extremists and so do we, with that tea partier who murdered all those people the other day."

"Lies are monster food. All monsters feed on lies, and a monster is simply a living lie. They are the lie made flesh.

"Hitler could not have been the monster he was without a steady diet of outrageous lies with no connection whatsoever to reality. Stalin, Mao, Castro, Arafat, Pol Pot, and all the rest of the 20th century Monster Club -- all were soulless zombies because of their fidelity to the Lie which created them.

"In this regard, you can certainly see how ideology becomes a substitute religion rooted in the satanic eucharist (or "dyscharist") of ingesting the Lie. Once the liar is in place, he needs a steady diet of more lies in order to maintain himself. Conversely, he will respond to truth in the way a vampire reacts to garlic or Obama to media scrutiny. ..."

Thanks for posting this kristinn. I've been in a rotten funk ever since hearing this terrible news yesterday. Truly one of the bright lights of our movement has gone out. He was the embodiment of the happy warrior and will be mourned for a long tme to come.

RIP Andrew. May Perpetual Light shine upon you.

Good work kristinn

I will follow his lead. Going forward, I will ask "what would Breitbart do?

Then I will let it rip.

When I first heard of Andrew’s passing, I was angry. Its just not fair. There are so many damn liberals and limp wrist republicans and the one man who fought like a warrior for conservative principles dies.

Rest in Peace Andrew. You are greatly loved and won’t be forgotten.

I am always surprised at finding out who some of our fellow freepers are and how important they are to the movement. RIP Andrew.
