Anyone planning to need a gun for survival better learn to shoot using iron sights.
Scopes are great and very accurate, but they do get bumped off and have to be re-sighted in often. Not something you will want to do with a limited supply of ammo.

I have never been able to use a scope well, so all mine are iron sights. I do however have plenty of ammo.

There’s a section in the book “guerilla gunsmithing” that tells how to fairly acurately site in a rifle with one shot.
Their reason for this is that you don’t want to attract attention, but saving ammo would be another reason.
