Krauthammer noted that even if he won by 2 delegates, that out of 1500 it just doesn’t matter.

Too tired to argue with that at the moment.

Uh, he just split Mitt in Michigan. This is huge. This means that Mitt gets zero net delegates in Michigan.

“This means that Mitt gets zero net delegates in Michigan.”

I’m dense here - could you explain? I thought it was proportionate or done by districts. Thanks!

It’s done by districts. There’s 30 in total.

If Santorum gets 15 and Mitt gets 15 - Michigan is a tie.

This means that even though Santorum didn’t win as many votes as Mitt - Mitts were all concentrated in the urban areas of Detroit, and compressed into certain districts.

Santorum’s votes being better distributed ties Romney in his ‘home state’.

This is as much as a victory.

IIRC, Michigan is penalized half the delegates for an early primary. So the split would be more like like 8 / 7 ...

Based on a prominent Michigan blogger's site , Santorum won 16 delegates, Santorum 12, with 2 delegates to be determined.

Make that Romney 16, Santorum 12, 2 to be determined.

When I went to bed, he was ahead of Rick by about 4% points. In 08' he had an 8% lead over McLame.

Now, combine that with the delegate split which is a decent pick up for Rick and a horrible wound for Obamaney, how can even the most dense see we have a terribly flawed and unsaleable candidate?

* So we have a candidate who can not close the deal
* The EGOP has decided to committ suicide again, I will not stop them or enable them
* I will not enable them if it is Romney, As my last act of defiance like a mouse flipping off an Eagle, I will write in Palin I revile Mitt so much.
* Insider wonks here have noted, his tactics are pure Nixonian, so we trade one Nixon type for another with Romney?

Other than FR, I will turn off all media and focus on my life rather than volunteer for Romney, he is gonna have to win it on his own. Maybe I'll work for someone with passion down ballot even if it is a dog catcher.

But we need to make plans for 11.3.12... regroup, and set off on a new mission. We have to build our own Party the GOP is un-saveable, if it is Romney we are going to get our asses handed to us..

Going over the CDs in the morning.

It’s possible Santorum could get 16 delegates vs 14 for Romney. Santorum looks like he won 8 Congressional districts in Michigan with 2 per.

Thanks for the explanation! Too bad, though, that Arizona is winner-take-all.
