Like what happened when Walter Reed consolidated with Bethesda Naval - NOW twice the number of patients are being seen annually at ONE facility [NOW about 1 million per year]. BUT, the consolidated facility has roughly 1/2 the bed space than the two original facilities being combined.
All things being equal [assuming each facility had the same number of in-patients annually], there are NOW TWICE the number of patients fighting for 1/2 the number of beds ...
