Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has moved into an 18-point lead over rival Mitt Romney in Tennessee. Registered likely and early voters favored the former Pennsylvania senator over the former Massachusetts governor 38 to 20 percent, a poll by Vanderbilt Universitys Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions found.

Huckabee won in ‘08
Talk about taking the wind out of some people.
So, maybe another poll showing the soc cons not liking Romney’s mormonism; not so much as being inspired by Ricky’s bold economic plans to turn the country around. We are heading for a loss. I see why the establishment is going nuts; sorta funny (they caused it), though shows we need a new candidate.
Impossible, Santorum’s social conservatism is killing me.
Good news.
The Evangelicals don’t like Romney.
Or could it be because Romney was rapidly pro-abortion and signed gay marriage into law in Massachusetts?
Why do you have to attack other conservatives by using a lame liberal argument?
Which was better than voting for McCain, who lost the general election.
Looks like most of this poll was taken before the AZ debate. Feb 16-22
Debate Feb 22
Sice, although I’d vote for Romney in the bat of a gnat’s eyelash in the general but don’t really like him, this is the election that counts. As a Tennessean, I’m waiting until election day to see whether Newt or Rick is ahead of Mitt and plan to vote for the one who’s ahead.
Santorum isn't running on just social issues. He spends most of his time talking about the economy.
” - - - although Id vote for Romney in the bat of a gnats eyelash in the general - - - . “
I am curious, what would change if Romney beat Obama?
YES! Great job Rick. Hopefully you take out Romney tomorrow.
So this poll is over a week old. Way back then, (an eternity in this political year) even I was thinking Santorum might not be so bad!
we cannot win on social issues alone.
Have we tried it before with the Presidency? I don’t believe so at all. We have tried the economic types with zero interest in social issues and lost many times. So let’s give this a chance and we might surprise everyone. I think it is a priority to get our country back on track with morals and principles. I would not fight for Rick as much as I do if I thought this country could afford to go down the values slide much more. I mean how much more evidence do you need to see how principles have gone down the drain? I mean another child just killed his classmates again just today. We have Maryland passing gay marriage. CBS is producing another tv show called partners about boyfiends and girlfriends and their problems (same sexes). I mean our country is a mess with regards to social issues and if we don’t get straightened up we are over. JMHO.
Them thar hills in Tn are crawlin’ with sorry moderates.
the highest praises for his economic plans by many/even from
sides who are not supporting him. Newt is trying to do damage to the ruling powers. I like that so we can get our-power back to change the moral decay. Newt will help tremendously.
