Christie: So what if Romney's rich?

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Sunday defended Mitt Romney against criticism that his wealth complicates his ability to connect with everyday folks, saying Romney’s wealth should be a positive factor in the race.

“I think that’s what we want in a president of the United States,” Christie told host Bob Schieffer CBS’s “Face the Nation,” saying that Romney's wealth is a reflection of his success.

His defense came after Romney noted in a Michigan speech Friday that his wife Ann drives “a couple of Cadillacs.”

“So the cat’s out of the bag, Bob, on the fact that Governor Romney’s wealthy,” Christie said. “So he has a number of cars, many people who’ve made a lot of money over time do. I think this is just something where, to be candid, folks are looking for him to make trip ups.”

You are still a coward. You refuse to make any kind of factual support for your claims. Tell us how a semi-auto version of an AK-47 is a military weapon. Tell us how the lethality of a .44 cal Winchester 1873 is all that different from the lethality of a .223 semi-auto SCAW.

Tell us or continue to show your cowardice.

This is adapted from John Ross' 'Give It To Them Straight'. Click the link if you want to see the entire document. My website has many such essays.

From the article:

POINT: "In 1776, citizens had muskets. No one ever envisioned these deadly AK-47s. I suppose you think we should all have atomic bombs."

COUNTERPOINT: "Actually, the Founders discussed this very issue - it's in the Federalist Papers. They wanted the citizens to have the same guns as were the issue weapons of soldiers in a modern infantry. Soldiers in 1776 were each issued muskets, but not the large field pieces with exploding shells. In 1996, soldiers are issued M16s, M249s, etc. but not howitzers and atomic bombs. Furthermore, according to your logic, the laws governing freedom of the press are only valid for newspapers whose presses are hand-operated and use fixed type. After all, no one in 1776 foresaw offset printing or electricity, let alone TV and satellite transmission."

The right to self-defense is the first law of nature. Firearms rights are human rights.

You want law enforcement to decide the second amendment, the leaders of that are Democrat Chiefs, what other law enforcement did you want to put on your list to decide our gun freedoms?

He does not want to come get our guns we use for personal protection. Getting AK 47’s and AR 16’s off the street are a whole different animal. No one wants our guns. I do not want an AK 47.

*******************************

If our government has superior firepower than we, its citizens, the purpose of the 2nd Amendment is thwarted.

trisham, I completely understand why people think this way and what their point is. And it is a valid point. Please do not think I do not understand exactly what your concern is. And thank you for not calling me a nutjob, liar, coward and..oh shoot, I still cannot remember what that other insult was but thank you for not using it.

To a marxist bastard like you perhaps.

The second ammendment prohibition against all gun laws was put there to assure that the people will always be stronger than the government.

There is no personal weapon that any person Can be constitutionally prevented from owning.

Go join Chuck Schumer, and get off FR.

Only a cowardly nut job would think to interfere with the right to bear personal arms of choice.

You’re no better than Sarah Brady, Chuck Shumer, or Frank Lautenberg.

We were blessed. My Gram was such a brave woman, and an amazing cook. I wish I had the opportunity to know her longer. There are so many things I’d like to know about her, and to talk to her about. Life is too short.

Granny lived such an interesting life. I have so many questions I never asked and now there is no one left to ask. My father was the last in the family. Granny was one of the first successful businesswomen in San Antonio in a man’s world. She owned the stables in a park close to downtown here. The horse business was very much a man’s world but she could hold her own. She ran with an interesting crowd. If you have never heard of Red Berry, google him sometime. He shot and killed two men ..two different occasions, before being elected a Senator here in Texas. I remember sitting around the breakfast table listening to them talk.

She sounds amazing. One of my biggest regrets is that I never had the chance to get to know my grandparents and parents as an adult. My family is short lived.

It's one of the reasons that I believe that we should respect our elders. They have much to teach us.

I am so sorry to hear that. My grandparents enriched my life so much. Granny ..I never knew my father’s father..and her husband who was for all intent and purposes, was my grandfather, and my maternal grandparents, were as different as night and day. I treasure their memories. How old were you when your grandparents and parents died?

I was just 21 when my Gram passed away. My mother died when I was 39, and my father died when I was 45. I had no idea that my mother was ill, and yet we spoke at least once or twice a week. My father was former military, and it wasn’t his way to confide.
