Auto union will taunt Romney from the sky at Daytona 500
FEBRUARY 25, 2012
The United Auto Workers will taunt Mitt Romney from the sky while he attends Daytona 500 on Sunday. Plane banner: "Mitt Romney: Let Detroit Go Bankrupt."
The union says 31 of 43 cars racing tomorrow are made by one America's big three auto makers.
"Had the country taken Romney's advice, turning his back on the Auto Industry and the millions who depend on it during their darkest hour, what would have become of NASCAR?"

Santorum has the #26 today.
I’ve found the the flames really help me reach my destination faster.
let them . they are overpaid shitty workers,
Brewer endorsed Romney..just d*mn.
Ain't nothin' stock about a stock car son.
All of that stuff is custom built. The "Car of Tomorrow is here and they are all the same. Same profile, same engine, same everything. The only thing different is the graphics.
I wonder if the guys that build those cars are even in a union. I believe they’re built by the car owners in their shops and I doubt that they are union people.
BS. They're built by their respective sponsors. Maybe he means built to look like American cars...
Not the union for auto workers.
The Chevy Volt with a 500 mile extension cord was a last minute qualifier today.
I’m really sorry to read that.
I miss the heyday when car manufacturers would sell a street legal race car to get it homoligated.
Who wouldn't want a hemi Superbird from 1970?
Keep in on the track for Rick all 500 miles!"
Generally speaking, sports fans don't like partisan politics mixed with the spectacle. I remember John Kerry was loudly booed at Fenway—in a town he would win by a landslide—when he threw out the first pitch(which hit the dirt in front of the plate). I got the impression the booing wasn't because it was Kerry or that he couldn't throw. It was about fans not wanting the game polluted by politics.
Nascar picked John Cena over Willard Romney who had traveled down to Daytona to start the race.
Good choice.
As to the UAW dolts, the industry operates at the whim of bureaucrats and not the customers. Chapter 11 was the way to go but that would have busted the unions and they would have been on the short end of the stick they already had. Those bond holders who risked their investment dollars were the really big losers.
Not the same engine. Each is slightly different according to the basic block and head design. I can tell you after experience with the D3 Roush flat tappet engine, the four engines are as different from each other as their names. The basic rules are the same for each and each must fit their basics into the rules.
As a racing techno geek, I am very happy they have brought EFI into the mix. How out of character it was to see the data guy’s laptop on the roof of the cars in the NASCAR garages.
As to the point the cars are all the same, yep. The only exception is the nose. Very slight differences but essentially the same. Everywhere, spec racing is the norm and the overriding agenda is for the show. What they don’t legislate by car chassis, shape and engine, they will attempt to level the playing field so driver ability is paramount. They are wedded to making the racing a sport of personalities and abilities.
Professional racing is the new “Circus come to town”. The trucks roll in like the Circus Train used to with all of the fancy graphics to announce their arrival. The tents go up, the show ensues, and when it is all over, the tents come down and it is off to the next stop for the show. That is the reality.

Are they really going to fly that banner today? Oh, please dear God, let it be true!!!
Go Number 26!

How about a big mast in the center of the track and an extension cord to the car?
Sort of like a huge May Pole -
