Poll: Santorum closes on Romney in Arizona
The Hill ^ | February 25, 2012 | Jonathan Easley

Rick Santorum has wiped out Mitt Romney’s lead in Arizona, according to the latest survey from the American Research Group.

Romney took 39 percent in the ARG poll, followed by Santorum at 35 percent, Newt Gingrich at 15 percent and Ron Paul at 11 percent.

The poll has a four percent margin of error.

If the poll is not an outlier, it’s a shocking development just three days before the Feb. 28 Arizona primary.

Interesting turnaround. Is Romney's recent mini-momentum already blunted? Let's hope so.

I guess everyone was right who said the low rated debate was a game changer. I didn’t think it mattered a hill of beans, but here we are. Rick surging in MI and AZ after it. Who knew?

The Romney camp has to be in a panic. He is tied in MI and is now barely hanging on in AZ. If he ever loses both, he is all done.

Excellent news, if the poll is accurate, especially with all the Mormons in Arizona and the underhanded distortions against Rick at the debate.

Good news for Newt supporters, as well, if it cuts into Romney’s delegate count.

And I don’t know why the poll wouldn’t be accurate, since I don’t think ARG would distort things in that direction if they could help it.

"Excellent news, if the poll is accurate..."

I doubt it's accurate. Up to a certain timeframe, the pollsters can try to shape turn out in favor of their desired outcome, but at some point prior to the election, they have to start reporting the real numbers to maintain the credibility of their polls. I suspect Santorum has been doing better in AZ or MI than has actually been reported all along.

Not according to the Lame Stream Media!! If Santorum wins Arizonia AND Michigan, Romney is still the front-runner, and Santorum must win most to Super Tues. to stay in the race.

I kinda thought Ricky blew it in the last debate but if he beats Romney in AZ and MI I’d be thrilled.

A vote for Mitt Romney is really a vote for Barack Hussein Obama, the America hating POTUS!!! Mitt Romney has no fire in the belly, no charisma, is boring, has no real conviction, and will be devastated by Obama in November!!! I suggest and urge all Michigan & Arizona primary voters to cast their ballots for either Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich come next Tuesday . A vote for Mitt Romney is a wasted vote, IMHO!!! Wake up America, Obama is destroying the worlds best nation!!! And.....”play it safe”, Mitt romney will do the same. We need a Washington, a Lincoln or a Reagan!!! Not a Romney, no way!!!!

Did anyone watch Judge Jeanine tonight? I usually like her ..but now realize that politics isn’t her thing.

She had on two slobbering Mittens GOP Elites and one bat crazy Dem “strategist” who was obviously off his meds.
It was like Daryl and his other two brothers, Daryl and Daryl.
Isn’t SNL on a little later?
Turned out to be a analysis of how and why Santorum lost! Umm, excuse me?

If I get banned from FR after 12 years here in service you will know why. (I took issue with another Freeper (likely of ‘Protected Status’) and made a reference to a well known Presidential candidate and an inarguable character flaw of his, the candidate’s, in the past.) Just letting you and others know if you get an error message for ‘AiT’, I guess you will know why ... We shall see what happens. PS The personal insult from this person in open forum was too much for me to not have ‘returned fire’. Maybe I should not have stooped to such a person’s level...
Eagles Up!

DON’T PANIC. Rick is coming up in the polls in MI and AZ and can beat Mittens. The MOE is that close. If he does, it will be a great win for the country. GO RICK!

I think a lot of people are scared about the economy and perceiving a rich guy like Romney to know how to turn it around and that is how Romney is getting the votes he is. I bet if Santorum focuses on the economy these last few days more than usual, he can win up there in Michigan. The media keeps focusing on the social issues with Santorum.

[The media keeps focusing on the social issues with Santorum.]

Probably because they have no quarrel with his ability (And proven record) to spend lots and lots of taxpayer money or grow Government.

Where he will lose is, he is another George W. Bush without all the Executive experience.

Don’t worry, I’m not as thin-skinned as you are. I couldn’t give less of a damn about you, your opinion of me or your opinion of Newt Gingrich.

I do not enjoy any “protected status” around here.

I’m not going to run and tattle to anyone about you.

You will end up hanging yourself with the garbage you’ve been posting here.

By all means, keep calling everyone who doesn’t fawn over the “Pork-Barrel Pope of Pittsburgh” an “FR moron”.
