Santorum-sponsored car unveiled at Daytona
By Jamie Klatell - 02/25/12 01:48 PM ET
Rick Santorum's presidential campaign is sponsoring the number 26 car for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday.
The cars driver, Tony Raines, is considered a heavy underdog in the race.
"NASCAR and the Daytona 500 are about as American as you can get, and it's great to have my campaign represented by one of these incredible machines," Santorum said in a release. "The race weekend is a wonderful tradition that we're excited to be a part of as we spread our message. I like how Tony Raines turned some heads last weekend with his qualifying run, and we'd like to keep turning heads, too. I think we're both looking for a win in the end."
Mitt Romney's campaign said Friday that its candidate will attend the race, but Romney is not sponsoring a car.

FReepmail Antoninus to be added or removed.
I want a picture of Mitt Romney sitting in the stands, watching the Rick Santorum car drive by.
I wonder if Mitt’s supporters will try to hold up “Romney” signs to block the view of the Rick Santorum car....
Sweet! Is he the first candidate ever to do so?
Hey, I heard that Willard will be at the race car-less though.
I’m glad it’s a Ford : ^)
Maybe he’ll be driving one of his wives cadi’s.
Other candidates have done so in the past.
Can’t remember the name but a prominent Florida Democrat had a car sponsorship a few years ago.
First. Obama had a deal in 2008 for a race but backed out.

CC...I should have been more specific in my question. I meant, "is he the first candidate for POTUS to sponsor a car?"
Yes, Obama would have been the first major candidate to be sponsored in a NASCAR Sprint Series Race. However, since he backed out of the agreement, Rick is the first.
Hmmmm.... Likely towards the back pushing the lovely Danica.
Boogity, Boogity, Boogity, Amen!
Ooh. Good catch. Hope that was intentional.
I saw Santorum’s interview with Glenn Beck the other day. He gave all the right answers in regards to undoing what the Obamination has done to America.
Santorum’s wife and kids were on as well. She seems to be a very committed Christian prayer warrior.
President Santorum will help set this country right again if he gets the chance.
I just pray that enough swing voters have the sense to overcome the propaganda media.
The future of this republic depends on moderates fed up with Obama wanting to give Santorum a chance, if they do not buy into the media portraying him as a “right wing religious nut”.
It was a good interview because Beck asked some decent questions that the MSM seem to constantly ignore. The best part, I thought, was when he was asked why he was running. Him and his old lady both said Obamacare and they genuinely looked concerned for the future of the country and their children. It was something that other candidates seem to have a problem answering with any conviction, especially Milt.
That worked pretty well Saturday.
(Danica did pretty well also, despite having a bad day.)
PLEASE remove me from ALL of the Santorum lists.
(I think I'm on it in multiple places.)
I support Rick, but the posts are too much.
Thanks.
