COLONIA JUAREZ - In the craggy desert of northern Mexico, U.S. presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's relatives turned an arid valley into lush agricultural land and prospered after being chased from the United States for their Mormon beliefs.
They suffered years of hardship, living in dirt dugouts and overturned wagons, but then went on to build sturdy homes and a thriving school, develop irrigation canals and dams, raise herds of cattle, and plant vast peach and apple orchards from the punishing landscape.
The story of the early Mormon settlers in Mexico, who fled the threat of arrest in the United States for practicing polygamy, is embodied by Mitt Romney's great-grandfather Miles P. Romney, who crossed south of the border in the late 1880s.
His offspring still live in Mormon enclaves in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua around 200 miles from the border and near the house where Mitt's father, George Romney, was born.
-snip-
Miles P. Romney was pursued by U.S. marshals after polygamy, or "plural marriage" as it is known in the Mormon religion, was outlawed in 1882.
He set up camp in Mexico with three wives and more than a dozen children.

Mormons are a CULT plain and Simple, no different than Scientology.

A lot of folks spend time focusing on the magic spectacles, the golden tablets, the new Adam and Eve, the underwear... but here’s the rub that pisses people off about the Mormons most of all.

Nothing prompts hatred more than envy. In fact, I really don’t care what the Mormons believe as long they aren’t forcing me to do the same through coercion or gunpoint, but their general productivity is the core of Mormon hatred. Ditto the Jews in the Middle East, the racist bile spewed by black intellectuals about “the knapsack of white privilege,” or the racist bile from white liberals about Alan West and Clarence Thomas. Success may have a thousand fathers, but it also brings out the worst in those who are jealous of the success.
southpark? come on you can do better than that
I wonder if the wives refer to each other as wives in law.
Prepare yourselves for at least a gazillion more Mormon/polygamy articles between now and the election should Romney become the nominee.
No. "Sister wives." ::::rolling eyes::::
I haven’t seen anyone who hates Mormons. I have, however, seen people who speak up about their false beliefs and get labeled as haters for doing so. That’s a leftwing tactic you don’t expect to see from conservatives.
Are Mormons the only productive people? Are they the only religion that builds homes and schools? Is crop planting a skill exclusive only to Mormons? No to all. So the accusation of envy really doesn’t make sense.
So are you saying the law should be changed to let people have multiple wives at the same time?
You couldn’t be more wrong. The rub with Mormons has nothing to do with envy. The rub about Mormons is MormonISM, which is a cult that deceives millions by mascarading as “christian”. Nothing more, nothing less.
Gotta remind myself to never get involved in threads about Mormons.
Yes, if you choose to comment and then don't like the truth when it's presented, it's probably best.
I don’t support Romney for political reasons. But, I don’t think it’s fair to judge him on what his ancestors did. For all we know, other candidates did terrible things. Are we going to hold everyone responsible for what their grandparents did?
Brigham Young supposedly made the statement:
The man who wants two wives has never had two wives!
I’m not judging Romney based on the fact that his Great Grandfather have 5 wives.
You will only see in these mormon threads the truth about this cult, and their deception to their members and prospects. Not HATE, but truth. Read and learn.
lol
