My family would be pretty self sufficient except for the medicines. I have one, without which I will die. Prescription only, and I’ve squirreled away a months supply, by not taking it a day now and then, but anything over about 30 days and and its curtains for me.
Some meds you can order 3 months’ supply, you might check into that.
That may be the 30 most free living days of your life... ;)
Is there any possibility that you can develop an ability to use herbal/naturopathic medicine that would replace this one vital med?
In our experience, the doctor has been after my husband to get him on diabetes medication for a while now. - Thing is, his blood sugar level is not high. Very rarely, it will get a little over 100, but most times it runs well under 100.
He takes chromium, benfotiamine (a B vitamin), and sometimes cinnamon. Has lost a lot of weight lately.
I take blood pressure meds, and it seems like they keep ramping the “normal” BP numbers down to ridiculously low numbers, almost like the drug companies intend to eventally get EVERYONE on their drugs no matter how low their BP is. 120/80 used to be the norm, and always what mine ran when I was younger and skinnier.
Insulin dependent diabetics would eventually die since insulin needs to be refrigerated I believe.
There is one prescription medicine I take daily.
I am able to get it refilled 25 days after the previous fill.
Done repetitively, you can accumulate an extra month’s supply every six months.
You will, however, need to get your doctor to renew the prescription after 10 months, since you will have used your allotted 12 refills for the year in that time.
Try ordering from a European pharmacy via the web.
As long as it is not a narcotic or steroid, it is quite legal.
I have one med that is herbal. I plan to buy the plant so I can make my own in an emergency.
BTW, if there was a real CRASH, raising herbs for meds would be a great survival skill. Probably need to team up with a pharmacist and organic chemist.
You could pick up a few gold coins if you are the only one who can manufacture meds.
