Rick Perry took a shot at Rick Santorum prior to tonight's GOP debate, saying the former Pennsylvania senator is "weak on the 10th Amendment" and lacks the instinct to go after big spending in Washington. In an interview, Perry touted Newt Gingrich as the best Republican in the field to be the party's nominee for president. Perry said of Santorum, "He thinks that Washington needs to be making a substantial amount of those decisions" regarding spending and federal oversight of education, environment and health care decisions better left to the states. Perry appeared on conservative talker Michael Medved's radio show. The Texas governor is in Mesa, Arizona for tonight's GOP debate. He will be in the hall as a guest of Gingrich and will be in the post-debate spin room to promote his candidate's performance.
Perry was asked what he thought of Santorum's idea that not only the federal government but also state government should steer clear of overseeing public education. Santorum says public schools would be better off if they were operated at the local level. Perry said: "That's just nonsense." The Texas governor has called for more state control of education, but says the states properly should have a "partnership with local school districts" to administer public schools.

Given that Rick Santorum insisted that he was not a Reagan Republican, it is not surprising that he compiled a Bush One and Bush Two type record and would essentially be comfortable with the establishment status quo.
So it is great that Americans have Gov Perry, Chuck Norris (an honorary Texas Ranger) to help Newt battle the major media and Dem/GOP Washington establishment.
“Santorum says public schools would be better off if they were operated at the local level. Perry said: “That’s just nonsense.”
Give us THREE reasons, Rick?
Well, he *IS* right on that.
He doesn’t believe states are smart enough or responsible enough to education ‘the children’. But then, he doesn’t think any citizen of the United States is smart enough or responsible enough to know how to behave without the Federal government dictating what is or is not moral for them.
Waaaaaaah...
The Hottentot nanny brigade strikeforce is here to tell us all how to vote, live our lives, drive our cars, flush our toilets, pray to G-d, eat, sleep, and wear clothing!!!
Run! Hide the women!!!
Gov. Rick Perry is the one I WISH would be answering the 3 a.m. phone call.
Santorum is weak all around. A RINO on economic issues, and an annoying little preacher on social issues. No thanks.
Arizona - "The Case for Newt Gingrich"
I see both Gingrich and Santorum supporters telling us how to vote.
I can foresee the Department of Environmental Solutions telling us how to live our lives, drive our cars, flush our toilets, sleep, and wear clothing as the EPA does now.
What I have not seen is a candidate advocating telling us when or how to pray.
You bet!
Can someone divulge which lovely channel and what time this Debate is on tonight? I’ve heard all the news about the debate but nobody is saying what channel it’s on. Very annoying. Help a sista out!
8pm EST on CNN.

Is that your belief?
I agree, I supported Perry and still pray one day I can say President Perry!
