Get ready for some retro entertainment because the drive-in theater is returning to Cowtown.
The Tarrant Regional Water District gave Coyote Theaters the go ahead Tuesday to develop a drive-in theater along the Trinity River just south of La Grave Field.
"We are producing the first urban drive-in right now in the U.S.," said J.D. Granger Trinity River Development Director.
Itll have digital projectors and ways to listen through your car or smart phones. The tech will allow it to be the first drive-in in the country to offer first run movies simultaneously in both English and Spanish.
There will also be more than one way to watch movies on the four screens.
"Were going to have cabanas where you can watch from cabanas instead of your car. Theres ways to watch if you were going to ride your bike or in Fort Worths case ride your horse," said Coyote Theaters CEO Brady Wood.

I don’t know, but I’ll have to watch it on Netflix, and compare it to my 5-year-old memory. Thanks!
>>>Yeah, but listening to a movie through your phone?
If one uses decent headphones, one can have quite an enjoyable listening experience to audio from a cell phone.
Yep! They also have indoor seating for the Drive-in movie and a cinema (with another flic) and a putt-putt golf course.

Seriously?
Why not? Most kids these days have the phone to their ears at least 6 hours per day.
No...not seriously...
Sweet. I’ll have to check that one out. I remember playgrounds and *I think* an arcade at the drive-in but not miniature golf.
Good... cause we didn’t have mines or bears ;>)
Have you been to the one in Gatesville?
Nope, but I might have to get down there.
I loved drive-in movies for the same reasons!
I hope this catches on and we get them everywhere again!
I couldn’t tell you the first. The very last one was called The Empire Strikes Back.
Thank you!
Me too. Hopefully, Smokey McBongWater won’t pull in next to me and the kids.
The first one I remember was Vertigo with Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak. It was 1958 and I was 10.It was the route 44 drive in in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
No first run movies BUT you got a double feature and CARTOONS !
All ‘in-car’ action stopped when the cartoons came on.
Wonder if that’s why the same girl never went back to the drive-ins with me ? Couldn’t have been my technique.
I think this is a democrat party plot to distract us just about the time Texas will be having their GOP State Convention!!! /sarc
So more than likely, instead of hob-nobbing with the politicos that evening...I think I’ll be able to get “Wife Unit” to go along and have a great evening together after all the convention business that day...;-)
I think I better throw in a day spa package into the deal as well, while I’m at the convention fiddlin’ around, she can get a little pampering for our date that night!!! Woo Hoo!!!
Circa 1974, my dad took us to see “The Longest Yard” at the local drive-in:
“I think I broke his f*ckin neck!”
Dude, extra points for creativity. Good idea.
