Where I am it is illegal to remove campaign signs within 30 days of an election, on public property, unless there is a public safety issue. A number of years ago a member of the city council was fined by the cops for removing a sign of an opponent posted at a busy intersection.
The signs have to be removed within days after the election where I live.
