Romney Out Of Money In 20 Days (So much for Mitt's fiscal conservatism...)
Examiner ^ | 2/22/12 | Khelil Bouarrouj

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter recently mocked Newt Gingrich's fiscal conservative credentials by pocking fun at Gingrich's defense that he did not, in fact, take $1.6 million from Freddie Mac, but, rather, after calculating for "overhead" his take was solely $35,000. "There's a great fiscal manager,"Coulter quipped.

The pro-Romney Coulter may raise her eyebrows at her own candidate now. The Mitt Romney campaign is demonstrating anything but fiscal prudence in the presidential race - and Romney, like Gingrich, is running on his assumed skills to balance the budge; often citing his tenure as Massachusetts governor (where he did balance the budge) and restoring solvency to the 2002 Salt Like City Winter Olympics.

For the month of January, the Romney campaign spent $18.8 million and took in $6.5 million. Leaving the campaign with a monthly deficit of $12.2 million and only $7.7 million left in the campaign war chest. Newt Gingrich, by comparison, spent $5.9 million last month - the next biggest spender. At this rate the Romney campaign, writes the New York Times' Nate Silver, "would have only about 20 days of expenditures before money [runs] out."

So Mitt has burned off his stockpile of ammunition and is running low. What a shame. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Romney is vulnerable right now....low on funds and may lose Michigan. If Santorum can win Michigan, Mitt’s campaign will likely go into free fall.

Romney himself is not broke. If necessary he has more than enough of his own funds to keep things going to the convention...and my guess is, that if the online, individual contributions continue to fall off, he will also get help from the many wealthy people who have endorsed him.

I do not see his campaign going broke...I do see it having to enfuse more and more of his own and others money into it to keep it going, particularly if this weekend, and then on Super Tuesday he does not do well.

Romney's wealthy donors are tapped out and maxed out. They've already given the maximum legal amount ($2,500 individual, $5,000 couple) and can't give him any more.

The issue isn't small donors because Mitt doesn't have any.

Those enormous staffs of his in all fifty states eat up money fast-—which is jump a glimpse of what his potential Administration would look like-—essentially more of the same.

Yes he is vunerable. I guess he figured it was in the bag when he began and just planned to blow off some of the oppostion with a blast of ads aimed at his closest opponent and figure he would coast from there.

There has been one problem for him. He consistently gets about 25% of the vote verses the rest of the GOP field, most of which is considered less liberal than he is. To me that shows the GOP is still a conservative party and has been led around by the nose by the RINOs infused in the ranks. All they harp on is look at 1964 and what happened with Goldwater.

Things today are far different than in 64, for one, the sitting President assumed the roll after an assassination and in a war so the country was galvanized around him. Still after three years he in effect resigned by saying he would not seek reelection after passing the most leftest agenda of any president to that time with the exception of Roosevelt.

Right now, the country is almost on the rocks financially and our economy sans the stock market is in shambles. Whoever runs against the empty suit who is not smart enough to follow Johnson’t lead and resign, should win. So, why go with the liberal in our midst? As long at Paul does not go third party, Santorum, Newt or anyone else right of Romney will win this election.

His Excellency proved the adage, the higher the circus monkey climbs the pole, the more you see his ass. Time to not just take the country back but to move it away from the precepice.

Rattler - you NAILED it. I hope Santorum and Gingrich use your insight in the debate tonight. Romney is burning through a mountain of cash at a record clip - will a Romney administration be just as profligate in spending taxpayer dollars?

Well played Rattler!

Romney’s rampant, undisciplined and wasteful campaign spending tells you that the GOP-e does NOT stand for fiscal responsibility.

I figured he had plenty of small donors in the form of fellow LDS members. Is that not the case?

I dunno, I can’t see the LDS leaders letting this slip away due to lack of funds.
