Woman Was Pushing Child In A Carriage When She Was Hit
EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen said Tuesday afternoon that a bullet that punctured a woman's right calf in Downtown El Paso Tuesday morning is believed to have come from Mexico.
Police said a 48-year-old woman was shopping on Overland near Oregon when her leg was hit by a bullet just after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
A shootout happened at the same time in Juarez as when the woman was hit with the bullet.
Guillen Middle School, Aoy Elementary and Hart Elementary were put on lockdown from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
"We do take this extremely seriously," El Paso Mayor John Cook said. "This is another difficulty for El Paso and the border region when we're trying to highlight how safe our community is. This is still a great place to live."
El Paso Sheriff's Office Commander Gomecindo Lopez called the shooting "highly disturbing."
This is not the first time that a bullet from Mexico has been fired into El Paso.
A bullet struck Bell Hall on the UTEP campus on the evening of Aug. 21, 2010. Nobody was injured and UTEP Police believe the bullet may have been related to a shootout in Juarez, Mexico that occurred at the same time. The shooting resulted in the temporary closure of Paisano Drive from Executive Center to Santa Fe Street in El Paso. One person was killed in the shootout in Juarez. There were no reported injures in El Paso.
At about 5 p.m. June 29, 2010 a bullet traveled from a shootout in Juarez through a ninth floor window of El Paso City Hall, then through an interior wall, before striking a picture frame and stopping. Further investigation revealed that the north and south stucco walls of City Hall were struck by an additional six rounds at varying heights on the walls. El Paso City Hall did not appear to be the specific target of the rounds. City employees were inside City Hall during the incident. There were no reported injuries in El Paso from the incident.
The whole damned Congress is in it with El Burrito.
The Border has never been safer nor more secure!
Is the old theater still there? The one with the pipe organ?
I was there in ‘68.

You think mayor Cook’s stupid enough to play golf in a thunderstorm?
If the bullets that hit City Hall came from 2 or more locations in Juarez (or El Paso) then the City Hall was a “specific target”.
You make it sound like the U.S. hasn’t committed acts of war on Mexico.
Juarez mayor: Bullet did not come from Juarez, but from U.S. - El Paso Times
Are you talking about the Plaza? It is still there, and in use. They are doing a big fundraiser right now to raise money to repair/restore it. I haven’t been to it but my daughter was telling me about it.
“You make it sound like the U.S. hasnt committed acts of war on Mexico.”
You make it sound as if I should care. That’s their country, this one is mine.
I was there while stationed at Fort Bliss for Advanced Infantry Training (Nike Herc Missile radarman).
We saw a double feature. During the intermission, a wonderful organist, seated on its bench, rose up from below the stage and started playing old favorites, including “The Yellow Rose of Texas”.
Brass organ pipes lined the theater and each one sang out it’s note. It was glorious, and, as you can see, unforgettable.
I have wished, for many years, to take my wife there, to share that memory.
Thank you for your response. Hope the theater is fully restored, for she was a beautiful lady.
I pray that the owners will invest in this legacy, and not the public, for there are too many people, now, that trade on other’s memories and money, instead of investing their own hearts and funds.

The restoration is supposed to be a joint project with the city but they have been busy raising money so at least they are trying not to just use all taxpayer money. I hope you do get a chance to go back and take your wife to see it.
If the organ and the pipes are gone, it ain’t the same. It’s just background.
The organ is there! It was sold and carted off years ago but a lady bought it and brought it back to the theatre. I guess she loved it too.
Let's call it what it is. State-sponsored terrorism. On this side of the border it's violations of the RICO Act. In Mexico and Honduras it's state-sponsored terrorism.
What else would you call heavily arming international criminal syndicates within a foreign country wherein that country is in a death struggle with those syndicates?
Especially when it goes beyond thousands of assault rifles to include grenades, RPGs, shoulder fired rockets, anti-aircraft guns, night vision equipment, body armor and special deals to bring their drugs onto our soil with legal impunity?
Not to mention the just-revealed news that the rip crew that killed BP Agent Brian Terry was there with DEA and FBI assistance and approval to attack and kill a rival cartel's smuggling crew.
Let's not leave out the FBI and DEA laundering millions of dollars for the drug cartels by setting up bank accounts for them that they otherwise couldn't do.
It's organized, it is spread through every Federal LEA and it violates numerous domestic laws and numerous statutes and treaties that deal with foreign nations. Yet none of it has been officially sanctioned. It's the FedGov acting like mafiosa.
0bama, Holder and Hillary Clinton are all deeply involved in this and it is state-sponsored terrorism. These Chicago machine Marxist thugs are dragging our country down to the level of Tehran and Pyongyang.
