Just as Rick Santorum has pointedly and repeatedly reminded voters that Mitt Romney supported an individual health care mandate and the Wall Street bailouts, so Mitt Romney has sought to remind voters that Rick Santorum has been cozy with Big Labor in the past. In his attacks on Santorum, Romney has sounded unequivocally anti-labor, which no doubt has not helped him much in Michigan.
Today, though, the former Massachusetts governor displayed a nuanced perspective on labor unions, characterizing himself as pro-union-worker but anti-union-bosses. His first line — “Labor unions play an important role in our society” — might seem to make him a hypocrite, given his recent attacks on Santorum, but the rest of the clip clears up any confusion.

What is he smoking? Labor unions are obsolete and they are the biggest burden in American society.
I suppose Romney figured that line was working so well for Santorum, he would filch it for himself.
“I have no problem with private-sector unions,” Santorum said in his remarks on Thursday. “I think they play a role in society.”
Romney Favors Right to Work. It started out as a pander and finished as a statement of principle.
If he were to keep it up, he might be President. But, Mittens being Mittens, that's not likely.

How can someone be pro union worker and anti union bosses. Politically I mean. What the hexk does that position buy him. Me thinks Romney is not the best choice against Obama.
The rest, the biggest part of him, is Mormon through and through. And we have no idea what that is because he has hidden it so well.
So where exactly do you think we will be able to find tradesmen who are capable of building things like nuclear power plants, submarines, high rise buildings, hydro-electric dams, etc. ? Maybe we should just check the yellow pages? Or maybe we could get Jose’ and his merry band of immigrants who were building all of our houses and things for us to come back and take care of it for us?
The only reason labor unions are obsolete is because the reforms they fought for became law; since union membership dropped, our “9 to 5” has become “8:30 to 5”, we’re being sunk by an increasing share of our health insurance costs and co-pays, and we’re basically sliding back in terms of general compensation and benefits (for those of us still working).
Unions make companies very incompetitive, but even without unions “our” companies have decided we cost too much and they’re sending the work elsewhere (we’re all competing with Asia now). The only people I know who have the standard of living they had 10 years ago are union members; I’m particularly opposed to the public employee unions, but as far as the private sector unions they don’t break my wallet involuntarily in the same manner.

A lot of people here have no understanding of "Private Sector" unions and all they see and read about are governmental unions. Private Sector unions are a whole different ballgame.
