http://www.birthersummit.org/ returns a 501 error.
The word about town is that it's off.
Anyone know the story?
I've followed the matter for about four years now and commented on it because I wanted to do my part to keep FreeRepublic from turning into a Birther nuthouse or being a constant source of Birther misinformation. In 2008-2010 there was a very real danger of the uncritical repetition of Birther falsehoods taking hold. And a fair number of us wanted to keep FR's reputation from being dragged into the mud by the Birther gangs
That task is largely complete. Birthers are now a very small number of people here on FR and their misguided opinions are pretty much ignored now. The only ones left are just a few hard-core cases who have serious emotional attachments to their beliefs.

Some of those falsehoods are still circulating, but I suppose you might have been helpful in pushing some of them down.

Not sure how you can arrive at that conclusion. Last thread I was involved in went to 500 posts. There is interest in the topic. I learned of two more legal scholars that support the main birther argument. (Several Years Prior to the Election, by the way.) I dare say that many if not most of Free Republic has an interest in the issue, but not very many see it as likely that the issue will ever get a fair hearing in the public domain.

I would characterize them as people who are unwilling to bow to a lie. You, on the other hand, prefer to admire your emperor's new clothes. I have these words of Samuel Adams for you and your ilk.
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
Spin it however you want, Birthers have still lost.
No more so than the nation.
I agree.
