The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Newt Gingrich will not campaign in Michigan in advance of next Tuesday's primary there:
Spokesman R.C. Hammond confirmed Monday night that the campaign is scrapping tentative plans to travel to Michigan at the end of the week ahead of the state’s Feb. 28 primary.
Gingrich is spending Tuesday and Wednesday in the other Feb. 28 primary — Arizona — but that is mostly for the sake of Wednesday night’s debate, and his public schedule will be light.

Excellent summation. And by extension, is he telling us Newt Supporters to vote Santorum to sink "The Minnow" Obamaney?

Yeah, Speaker Newt is in an obvious way. Hint, hint.
Tell me-—what will it mean if Santorum LOSES? The way his campaign has focused almost totally on Michigan, isn’t it almost a “must-win” for Rick, too? The way things have been going the past couple of days, with Romney and the media really blasting Santorum I wouldn’t be surprised if Mitt pulls it out. And now Rick can’t blame Newt for splitting the anti-Romney vote.

There are Santorum supporters who hide behind that just to take shots at Newt. Are you kidding me? You posted this about Newt, then complain?

Santorum WILL win.
Anything is possible, but.... My guess Newt has internals that allow him to take this risk, he is to smart not too...
I’m tellin’ ya....he is gonna wait till Saturday till it is too late for Romney to put together an ad, and he’s gonna tell his Michigan voters to plunk it all down on Santorum.
Newt wants this race to continue. And he wants to extract as many pounds of flesh from Mitt as humanly possible in the process.
I understand the strategy, but it’s too bad, because this speech he gave in Michigan in 2010 might be his best speech ever. It works just as well for the entire country. Nobody understands better the problems with our economy and our culture and what we need to change if we’re going to save our country from becoming a failed state:

I know many many conservatives, from tea party to social to fiscal, etc. There is a huge visceral dislike of Saint Rick. He has NO chance of ever being elected because a huge number of conservatives won’t vote for him under any circumstances. Newt is light years better.
This just in...Romney’s SuperPAC is now preparing PRO-Newt ads to run in Michigan...well, it wouldn’t be the weirdest thing to happen yet in this race if it was true.

Socially conservative western Michigan will tend to like the issues Sen. Santorum’s been talking about.
OK, let me get this straight...vote Rick in Michigan, vote Paul in Virginia, vote Newt everywhere else. I think I got it.
