In trying to clarify recent comments from Rick Santorum about President Obama's "phony theology," the candidate's new national press secretary made a gaffe of her own, saying Obama had pursued "radical Islamic policies" .
Alice Stewart, who had worked for Michele Bachmann's presidential campaign before signing on with Santorum earlier this month, made the slip during an appearance this afternoon on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports."
The segment focused on the former Pennsylvania senator's line of attack on Obama for his environmental policies, which were guided, he said in Ohio this weekend, by "some phony ideal. Some phony theology."
"As he has clarified the statement, he was talking about radical environmentalists," Stewart told Mitchell. "There is a type of theological secularism when it comes to the global warmists in this country. That's what he was referring to. He was referring to the president's policies, in terms of the radical Islamic policies the president has."

The official Santorum camp response should be: “Even the President made a gaffe about his muslim beliefs when talking to George Stephonopolus”...

Is that a gaffe, or a politically incorrect truism?
Well, he is a radical Islamist, but she didn’t mean to say it.

I wonder if Santorum is playing the MSM along? He is getting a great deal of attention and even the “gaffs” are not doing too much damage.
This article makes no sense. The author is trying to blend two different comments by different people at different times into one.
Weird.
“Gaffe” ?
Keep it up. Those of us in the know get it!
LIKE!
I’m not a huge fan of Santorum (not yet at least) but I love what he’s doing. I think what he said about the “theology” was well thought out and planned. I knew what he was talking about...and it got everybody focused in on him.
By showing the picture of Obama bowing down to the King of Saudi Arabia, Rick will be able to make his point about Obama’s Islamic allegiances at a strategic moment during the presidential campaign. In the meantime, Rick should keep his campaign spokespeople away from leg-tingling harridans like Andrea Mitchell, who are outraged at hearing the truth spoken on their propaganda shows.
LOL! Good for Alice Stewart, very clever! What better way to get the media to out Obama than by inserting a one-word gaffe in a statement the media has to quote in order to point out the gaffe!
Bingo!
Santorum is quickly feeding those that desire to give him the ‘weird guy’ jacket.
It is difficult to honor a religion that honors Honor Killing.
When Bob Schieffer interviewed Santorum on Sunday, he was genuinely bewildered by Santorum’s reference to theology. Libs don’t hear these things that are so familiar to us. They don’t understand when we talk about environmentalism as a sort of blind religion, because they just never hear that metaphor. And Santorum wasn’t talking to libs when he said it, but to Schieffer he had to translate the shorthand.
We need to be more careful. Santorum’s not my #1 choice but I’d vote for him if he won the nomination; he won’t win it if he isn’t more careful. He needs to avoid the social issues as much as possible and stay on economic issues. Everybody understands the American economy is going to hell in a bucket. If you have to talk about enviromentalist idiotics, talk about the economic impact of enviro-whackism. Don’t just say things you have to explain and translate.
I understand that RS is still talking to conservatives because he needs to get our votes, but he has to remember that others are listening to.
Rule 1- Someone please help Rick hire only competent people
Rule 2- STFU, The MEdia is trying to hang Santorum and will use anyone in his name
Rule 3- NEVER EVER apologize. There is no defensive.
