There has been much chatter in recent days about the reinjection of religious matters into the presidential campaign, with a focus on the increasingly bitter debate over Catholics and contraception. But Rick Santorum has just opened up a new and dangerous front in the culture wars.
We are now being asked to debate which of the Christians running for president is really a Christian. I am referring here not to questions about Mitt Romney, whose Mormonism according to many evangelicals is not the right theological stuff, but to questions about President Barack Obama.
In the past, the strategy on the right was to intimate that Obama was a closet Muslim (he is not.) It was too crass even for our crassest politicians to come out and utter this falsehood, so, when asked about Obamas faith, the strategy was to say, If the president says hes a Christian, hes a Christian.

You should post this on the CNN link on this. If you do I will sit back and watch the progressives heads explode. Very few conservatives there; I only saw one poor soul.
I believe Obama is into Black Liberation Theology. Jeremiah Wright is his “pastor”. They like to try and mix their real religion “socialism” with portions of the Bible that they can they twist and fool people into thinking it is a religion.
You know him by his own words.
>(Because Obama’s NOT a Christian)<
.
And neither is the Mormon, Romney.
Thanks. Rick was on fire this weekend.
You will know them by their fruits.
You know him by his own words.
Obama is a Muslim
So no one wants to post this on CNN liberal website? I suggested you men do it because I don’t believe women should serve on the battlefield, and that site is hot with the enemy. There was one poor guy who was trying to defend Christians and conservatives. Not that I want anyone to leave FR, just send a smart bomb their way.
OBAMA DIDN’T SAY THAT OBAMA IS NOT A CHRISTIAN, on the contrary, Santorum said that if Obama says that he’s a Christian, he’s a Christian.
What Santorum was saying was that to Obama and the left, environmentalism and global warming are a religion, a religion that elevates mankind and his actions above and greater power.
Either you and the left are being purposefully obtuse in your interpretation of Santorum’s remarks or you simply have never heard anyone describe environmentalism as the religion of the left.
The author is applying willfull ignorance, by omitting the context in which the comments were delivered.
It is clear Santorum is decrying the religion of environmentalists, making Earth their “god”, pretending that being “responsible with our resources” somehow relieves us of the respect for life and demands population control, and the destruction of capitalism and industry.
Zer0 and Michelle have bought into the Liberation Theology derivative which was first played by the Communist in South America. It was fought by Pope John Paul II and driven out of South America. Since then it has infected various American churches, including Obama’s church in South Chicago. Christians need to oppose Liberation Theology wherever it is tried.
Who has more fruits supporting him than ObaMao? :->
Geez, you have the ability to know who has ‘the life of God’ born into their hearts through faith in Jesus Christ? Who do you think you are. Be careful here, it was the religous leaders that Jesus had his harshest words for. I would suggest that you do not know the president’s heart. Now having said what is important, he does not appear to understand Chritianity. But a lot of Christians don’t either apparently.
I posted it, but so far CNN has not “approved” it. Liberals do not truly believe in freedom of speech, but maybe they will surprise me.
No matter who the puppet masters in the GOP allow to run, if they do not use the video of Rev Wright’s G-D America rant in EVERY commercial they will show me this entire election process is a sham to make us believe we have a choice.
I am slowly coming to a position where I believe we only have a government party of ruling elites with a left and right wing.
If I am wrong you would have to explain why so many instances of politicians violating their oath to support the Constitution does not result in immediate removal from office. No wonder both side have to pack the USSC with political hacks and not individuals 100% committed to assuring that government is kept within its Constitutional limits.
I am wrong to say Liberation Theology was driven out of South America by the Catholic Church. Actually, it is still being promoted there as well as other parts of the world.
It did not blow me away. Is there something in particular that you are referring to in Romans 13. There is a lot packed in there. Of course we respect our leaders and their authority. But if they are harming our country we vote their butts out. So, I guess I still don’t understand your point. LOL
None of us can know for sure if they’re Christian, but it would help your argument to list a few of their Christ-like actions.
Their unChristian and muslim-like actions are much easier to come by.
Truth be known, Santorum hasn’t the slightest idea what constitutes a Christian, since he has worshiped Ishtar/Mary all his own life.
Obviously Obama is not a Christian, or a Moslem, since he worships himself.
.
An atheist wouldn't wear a wedding ring with a serpent on it. I wonder what religion worships serpents.
The mystery of iniquity seems to never rest.
Correct. He made that crystal clear with a follow-up interview on Fox News last night. He was spot on in the way he answered the question. Gibbs is nothing more than a liberal bed wetter in trying to twist the issue.
However, you could make an excellent case as to why ObaMao wasn't a Christian either. That wasn't the topic of the particular question and Santorum's response, however.
