While the Republican presidential candidates have been battling in Florida and other state primaries, President Barack Obama's re-election campaign has been quietly putting together what aides say will be the biggest grass-roots campaign organization in Florida history.
It's run out of a dingy storefront in Ybor City, but aims at a state-spanning army of thousands of volunteers making phone calls, canvassing neighborhoods and registering voters.
Their goal is to repeat Obama's stunning 2008 Florida victory. That, political experts say, would make it virtually impossible for any Republican to build an Electoral College majority to defeat him.
Obama's Florida campaigners say there's little question they will have a bigger grass-roots organization than they had in 2008, which they say was the state's largest.
But they may also face a tougher political situation.
Obama, then a fresh face promising change and breaking racial barriers, ran against a Republican with a previously unsuccessful presidential run, John McCain, to replace an unpopular Republican incumbent, George W. Bush.
Voters then were alarmed about the economy; now they have suffered through years of its collapse, Florida worse than most of the nation.
"Florida voters are focused on the economy and jobs," said Mitt Romney campaign spokesman Ryan Williams. "Obama will be defeated on the basis of his economic record, not on how many staffers or offices he has across Florida."
Obama campaign staff members won't give out numbers about their organizing effort how many paid staff and volunteers, or of the "neighborhood team captains" they say are the linchpin of the effort.
But the campaign has 11 other offices in the state, more than any Republican campaign had at the height of the GOP primary season in late January, and will soon open more.

Hey! We’re busy.
People are using contraception, don’t ya know!
Filled up in Temecuala the other day $4.19 (cheap stuff), I am thinking $5.00 by the 4th of July.
My wife takes the TT for local news coverage. William March has been with the TT for dozens of years, seems to be teflon-coated nobody ever questions his allegiances and its obvious just how much he is the resident screaming liberal. No provocative headlines would surprise me at the TT in fact I believe March himself pens the headlines for the paper anyway. This is typical of his style, bombastic and misleading. Funny you would think after all of the years he’s been there he would have made his way up the masthead however for all of this time he’s just been a political reporter.

One more reason we need to defeat Nelson
To keep as many weapons away from Obama...
I also hope Marco Rubio is up to task to
Back the GOP candidate
never underestimate the stupidity of Florida.
NW Florida is securely conservative, everything from the middle to the south of Florida is not.
Diesel in Ocala yesterday,$4.00 a gallon.
Our candidate MUST be an articulate warrior, capable of explaining the devastation of another Obama term. He must be fearless. He must have vast experience and knowledge. He must focus on the seriousness of real issues this country faces. We must get behind this candidate. Any candidates meet this criteria? Oliver North, Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Michael Reagan, they have found their man.

Watch this racist Utube African-Americans for Obama
Can you imagine a white man launching a White man for Romney Utube?
Cut off his access to our money, NOW!
This is why it would be mentally insane and politically suicidal for the Republican nominee to not have Rubio as his running mate.
“...the resident screaming liberal.”
They do scream a lot, don’t they.
(Noxious puppies that they are.)
IMHO
“NW Florida is securely conservative, everything from the middle to the south of Florida is not.”
Not exactly true. There are pockets of severely conservative areas in the southern region as well. Just not anywhere near SE Florida. Give us SW Floridians some credit here! HA!
Whatever Obama has, they are not ‘troops’. They are slackers, weasels, users, abusers, leeches, Union Thugs, and evil people. But they are NOT ‘troops’.
He still has the young college and high school vote. He still has the teachers nd professors. He still has the White self hating Liberal vote. Inother words, he still has the idiots, fools, and parasites and they now account for a sizeable chunk of the population.
In 2008, Nebada was heavy ACORN territory-—
Apparently this year’s target is Florida!!!!!
Heh, sorry.
I was just going on what I had read about Escambia and Santa Rosa going for Newt, but much of the rest of the state went for Romney, and also that FL went for Obama in 2008.
Also it seems like a large number of New Yorkers and other northerners that moved to FL are turning the state blue, and then there’s Miami.
But even after all that, I’m not sure who goes for what even matters anymore, because I no longer believe that there are two parties in this country.
No matter who is in what office or which party is in the majority, we get the exact same result.
Propane last week 5.40 gallon. gas 3.76 at the corner, just west of Gainesville. Bambi hasn’t a prayer here. You can’t fool all the people all the time.
And you cheap comedians, time to get over Florida’s big eyeballed dude checking for chads. 67 counties in Florida and mostly NOT liberal loonies.
