Definitely. Speech code restrictions for governors are so Fascistic ~ makes me think of the Democrats and their PC Cr*p.

The young lady was from Jersey and made a contribution that was well known.

The governor can do what he wishes.
That doesn't mean that he's is correct, or that everyone who disagrees with him should just shut up and sit down.

A REAL topic? What is MORE real than the respect due to our flag? Yes, it's just a piece of cloth but it STANDS FOR so much more. It IS a REAL topic.

“Mr. Christie is governor...He can do whatever he wants.”

Very true. But what he did says a lot about his discernment, especially his lack of it. That’s important information, especially if our nominee might consider Christie for his VP. We need an adult.

I’m just curious what the official flag etiquette is on this? I can see where he would order state flags lowered, but I thought there was some sort of protocol for who could order the flags lowered and for whom.

Mr. Christie is governor...He can do whatever he wants. Period. Move on to a real topic. Granted alot of people don't have any respect for the flag nor the country. Your post was timely as we were discussing people say when they cannot defend a position or make a contribution to a conversation. Right now my preference is " it is complicated" but yours is good too.

Perhaps the outcry over this decision will make him think twice next time.

It’s not the end of the world, but this honor should be reserved for more worthy recipients.

And as the erosion of patriotism increases, as people stop caring about the twisting and bastardization of the tenets that made America great and relegate disparagement of the symbol of the Nation for a drug-addicted "star", the days of a free and great America enter even deeper in it's ugly decline.

Christie is a politician, and was in a no-win situation. If he refused to lower the flag for a black celebrity, he would have been accused of racism and Sharpton's crowd would have had yet another thing to march about.
