When the leader of the free world touched down in Ohio last month for a headline-making jaunt, the Buckeye State’s Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown was nowhere to be seen. And Florida Sen. Bill Nelson said he couldn’t break his plans to join President Barack Obama for some fun at Walt Disney World a few weeks ago.
Then there’s Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill.
While other swing-state Democrats on the November ballot flee from the vulnerable president, McCaskill has unabashedly hitched herself to Obama — for better or worse, in political sickness or health.
Resigned to the reality that her Republican opponents will tie her to the president no matter what, the blunt-spoken senator seems to have arrived at this conclusion: As Obama goes in Missouri, a state he narrowly lost four years ago, so goes McCaskill.
“I think she realizes she and Obama will either sink or swim together,” said Democratic pollster Tom Jensen.
Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.), meanwhile, hasn’t appeared with the president in over a year. McCaskill did not join Obama on a daylong fundraising trip to Missouri last fall. Instead, she had a fundraiser of her own that day in Washington.
Democrats deny their candidates are running from Obama, saying many of the presidential trips are last minute and that the most they can hope for is a shout-out from the president.

Claire McCaskill needs to open up a can of self-respect and then find a spoon.
That's a pretty high hurdle to clear as long as the west coast tag team of Patty Bin Murray and Barbara Boxer keep getting reelected.
Maybe she figures that if she can’t keep her Senate seat, at least Obama can pay her off with a little of his trillion dollar gravy.

Well, there's Al Franken, Bob Casey, Jr. and a pretty deep bench of other candidates. Do all three have to be women?
Brown is our resident senatorial POS who is trying to save his seat. Even though many of his colleagues said he was a big drug user even in his political offices, somehow he won a senate seat. I hope and pray we can throw this punk out of office.
