Former President Jimmy Carter said on Wednesday that Occupy organizers have created a "relatively successful" movement because they focused national discussion on wealth disparity despite lacking leadership and a unifying set of goals.
The Georgia Democrat said at an event in Atlanta that Occupy organizers have succeeded in forcing the media and Congress to realize the "chasm is getting greater than leaps and bounds" between the rich and the poor.
"It's been relatively successful even acknowledging there's no leadership, there's no coherence and there's no single list of issues they want to succeed," the former president said of the movement started late last year in lower Manhattan to decry corporate influence in government and wealth inequality.

Liberals/demoRATs consistently elevate these piles of dung (klinton, bush, zero) to the office of president.
senile old fool belongs in a home along with his wife
Simple answer: Gerald Rudolph Ford, Jr. I recommend that GA Jimmy and Rosalyn give away 70 percent of what they have to the poor in that is what they want others to do, pay 70 percent in taxes. Also Governor Carter made Governor Maddox look like a rousing success.
democrat X presidents cannot shut up....republican X presidents are better at living their lives after the presidency. Reagan, Bush, Bush, Ford, Nixon. had a life after serving out their terms...democrats cannot give up power or the lime lite...
Lou, it wasn’t liberals who elected Jimmy Carter; it was social conservatives on the rebound from the Republican corruption of Watergate.
Back in 1976 there was this soft-spoken Georgia governor named Carter who taught Sunday school and had a good solid marriage and a fine family. He was definitely a Washington ‘outsider’.
Many people, my self included, made the most embarrassing poltical mistake of our lives voting for Carter. I’m not a liberal but definitely a conservative.
My vote for Carter in 1976 is why I research candidates for national elections and post my discoveries here on Free Republic. I won’t get fooled again.
The only “Movement” that Jimmy Carter should be concerned with is a “Bowel Movement” because he is so full of crap that it’s coming out of his ears.
I have to say, God has given Jimmy a lot of time to change his ways and get on the right path. It seems Jimmy just can’t go down the wrong path faster than if you put wheels on him and hitched him to the Breck girl chasing an ambulance.
Jimmy feels a little cocky now that he realizes he’s no longer the worst president.
If exposing themselves as a rag-tag group of hygiene challenged societal malcontents, then I guess Jimmy’s correct.
“relatively successful”
Relatively...
Oh well, now even Carter compares everything to his record.
Its an obscene thing that Carter gets golden post presidential perks.. plus money, healthcare and credibility..

I appologize for not voting for Jimmeah. Sorry.
Jimmy, choke on a peanut and DIE!
How in the hell is he still relavent?
Personally I think it’s more the media itself has kind of warmed up to him lately because he’s no longer the worst president. I think he just gets more coverage. He’s been saying stupid crap like this ever since he’s been out of office, there’s no real change in Jimmy. It’s the media that’s changed.
“Liberals/demoRATs consistently elevate these piles of dung (klinton, bush, zero) to the office of president. “
I never personally met a liberal or democrat that elevated bush as anything higher than a pile of dung...
Then it’s settled.
OWS is a dramatic failure.
