Rick Santorum said they would come this week, and here are four years worth of his taxes, from years 2007 through 2010.

They can be found here, here, here and here. The returns are the most in number that have been released by any of the major GOP contenders - Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney didn't release several years' worth.

Santorum and his wife Karen filed joint returns for all four years. As you'll see from the returns, the Santorums' adjusted gross income went from about $659,000 in 2007, his first year out of the Senate, to $952,000 in 2008, to $1.1 million in 2009 and about $923,000 in 2010.

They paid about $167,000 in taxes in 2007, about $262,000 in 2008, $310,000 in 2009, and $263,000 in 2010.

The link said his charitable giving was a small percentage of his income, but would not get into specifics. I wonder what “small percentage” means.

great, now that Santorum has done that we can demand that Romney release 3 more years of his returns!

if you subtracted what Romney gave to the cult, he had a pretty low percentage of charitable giving also.

Looks like it was a little over one percent, of his 2010 year that I clicked.

We're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little more now if we can and the rest next quarter.

For the four years released, the Santorums averaged $20,359 in charitable contributions per year, which was 2.2% of their adjusted gross income. I’ll bet Rick wishes it was a little higher, but even so, he beats Biden, Kerry, Clinton, any many others by a wide margin. I wonder what Timmy Geitner donated out of his fictitious income?

Why adjusted gross? Is that the normal comparison the same across the board?

I gave Santorum’s donations as a percentage of Adjusted Gross Income. It makes sense to me because everybody has adjusted gross income. This way, everbody can be compared to everybody else and a taxpayer can be compared to himself from one year to the next. Do you have a suggestion as to what would be better?
