BOSTON — Joseph Kennedy III is formally jumping into the race for the Massachusetts congressional seat now held by retiring U.S. Rep. Barney Frank.

A member of the campaign who requested anonymity so as not to preempt the candidate’s announcement tells The Associated Press the Democrat is expected to make the announcement Thursday.

Kennedy recently moved from Cambridge to Brookline, part of the state’s newly redrawn 4th Congressional District.

Kennedy is the son of former U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy II and a grandson of the late Robert F. Kennedy. The family has deep ties to the Boston suburb.

Kennedy announced last month he was forming an exploratory committee to look at a possible run for the seat.

At least two other Democrats and two Republicans are considering runs.

Does Joe have a lisp that is winnable?

If the fools in this district are vapid and evil enough to elect a homosexual criminal like Barney Frank to office a dozen times, they are more than capable of electing another Kennedy buffoon to Congress.

Is it possible to get a divorce from these morons? I don't want them as countrymen any more...

Dear Massachusetts,

Thanks for taking the heat off us for a while as the most hated state in the union!

Signed,

And of course he'll probably turn out to be a drunk, an addict and or a womanizer.

I believe that he will be all three. Perhaps, he will add degenerate gambler and make it four.

Just when we thought we'd be subjected to no more smirky, smarmy Kennedys along comes this fool.

I wonder if maybe old Joe Kennedy's bootleg fortune is running a little low since Teddy died. If they can get another Kennedy elected to federal office, it would insure a steady flow of graft funds for the family coffers.
Just a thought.

I’m sure Barney will be solidly behind Kennedy.

Dead on; he doesn’t have Jack’s looks or charisma. I’m so happy we don’t have any Kennedy’s anymore, I can’t believe anyone wants to bring that back.

Just what Mass needs, another pro-death Kennedy to tarnish the memory of JFK, who was pro-life.

Maybe George Kennedy should run for office just to restore some degree of dignity to the Kennedy name. If that’s even possible.

I don’t know if the “magic” has dissipated but the money has had to. Old Joe Kennedy may have had a few hundred millin but he has a few hundred descendents all of whom want part of the wealth. Even though its undoubtedly tied up in nontaxable trusts, the division of it has had to have had an impact. So what else to do? Take the proven money-making route of going into politics. It does wonders, money-wise, for people who cannot do anything else.

politics1 and Green Papers have Marty Farren, Paul Heroux, Jules Levine, and Herb Robinson running on the Democrat side; Sean Bielat and Elizabeth Childs on the Republican.

Frank beat Bielat 54-43 in ‘10; it’s not a safe seat necessarily although you’d have to say Democrat favored.

The lines are slightly different in ‘12. I had taken a look at it some time ago.
