Pekes always win. Pekes and poodles.

I think there is something wrong with a dog with a flat face, but I had a flat faced cat for years that couldn’t breathe, so I’m biased.

All brachycephalic breeds suffer to one degree or another yet when a judge puts up an especially deformed specimen, all the breeders rush to emulate the exaggerated deformity.

It’s all about “looks” and “winning”.
“Extremism” is rewarded in all breeds, now.

Form follows function...period.

I know of no “function” that requires a suffocating dog.

A good friend has a bunch of Pugs [rescues] who keep her up every night, one or more of them needing Benadryl, decongestant nose drops, support for collapsed tracheas and/or palates or manual airway cleaning *just* to survive another night.

The intentional deformation of a dog breed just so it’s “so cute” sickens me.
