Here's Romney's Plan To Take Out Santorum (They came on in the same old way)
BuzzFeed ^ | February 14, 2012 | Staff

Mitt Romney's campaign — and its slashing Super PAC — are locking their sights on Rick Santorum for a campaign that may make previous attacks on Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich look like mere love taps. In an interview with BuzzFeed, a Romney advisor offered details of the campaign's coming two-front attack, which the campaign expects will be echoed by the Super PAC, which cannot legally coordinate its message, but which has already bought hundreds of thousands of dollars of airtime in key states. "Santorum’s a blank slate, so everyone’s projecting on to him what they want because he’s the last anti-Romney," said the advisor. "Santorum is going to get introduced to people that don’t know him."

I know Santorum's not perfect, but to paraphrase the movie Slap Shot.

Romney, you suck @^@#. All you can get!

I guess a blank slate beats a slate that you know is full of crap.

Sorry Mitt.

The first is a comparison to Barack Obama: "He's never run anything," said the advisor. The Pennyslvanian's experience is limited to roles as a legislator and legislative staffer. "The biggest thing he ever ran is his Senate office," he siad.

The second is a challenge to Santorum's Washington experience.

"They’re going to hit him very hard on earmarks, lobbying, voting to raise the federal debt limit five times," said the advisor. "The story of Santorum is going to be told over the next few weeks in a big way."

If that's all Romney's got, he's in trouble. Santorum is the only candidate who has been willing to hit Romney hard on O'RomneyCare, which is far more detrimental to Romney than whether Santorum voted to raise the debt ceiling in the middle of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Good luck with that Mr Tarp. Romney is going to come out of this attack just highlighting all the things that are far worse in his record. Romney already is getting a reputation as a dirty campaigner. This will only highlight that meme.

I was enraged when they went after Cain and Gingrich.

In retrospect I think the vetting is healthy.

Better now than in September.

Still, Santorum's weakest flank with independents will not be mentioned...Social Issues.

I don't believe that's all they got. I just read an eyeful over at the link provided by Drudge and Ron Paul is fully loaded for bear. In addition NRO has a scathing piece about Santorum's role in the K Street Project which stinks to high heaven. He's far from the "goodie two shoes" he wants us to believe and if not Romney or Paul than perhaps Newt will expose some of the inconsistencies.

I can understand wanting to be president and running negative ads on your opponent to a point. But the way Romney is running his scorched earth campaign, I have to ask: why does he want to be president that badly? It seems like an obsession to win the nomination. It’s obviously not for the money. Being president would be a drop in pay for him. But to spend the big bucks he’s spending to defeat his opponents seems over the top and that leaves me to believe there’s more to this than meets the eye.

I think people are getting wise to ol' Mitty's backhand.

Santorum is smart enough not to hit the tar baby.

I hope Romney jumps on the “stone age” view of women that the dems are trying to hang aroun Santorums neck. I would like to make sure Romney goes to this so much that it becomes moot. That way Obama will have to come up with something new. Santorum will have to be more guarded with regards to the “gotcha” questions in the future.

Same exact thing can be, and has been, said about Obama! IMO, it's about the POWER for Progressives to gain control and do exactly what they're doing....take down the US and usher in NWO.

The Mormon Church is making major preparations for a societal melt-down, from a full evacuation of the Salt Lake City basin to instructing their Deseret Ranch operations to have a plan to operate without diesel. They probably want their guy in there very badly and he's willing to do whatever it takes.

Of course you are right. This is really thin gruel from the Romney slime-factory.

But you know why? Because Romney is probably smart enough to know that if he attacks Santorum the way he attacked Gingrich it's going to backfire. So he's left with nothing but thin gruel... and the realistic hope that Gingrich will hang in there and peel away enough votes from Santorum to hand Romney the nomination.
