Wow, this was a great positive read. What the article is seeming to say is Sanctimonium is now Willard’s problem... and while those two do whatever it is they are going to do... Newt can do his thing... okey dokey pokey..
Marguerite, I am going to the point when I start to read a post, even before I see the tag and author, I know it’s you... !! Very wonderful!
Never, never give up, Newt! We’re here and we’re listening.
America needs you!
Right on!
I’m all in for Newt ALL THE WAY to Tampa!
Thank you.
That’s a very kind thing to say :)
“Newt is the only one that is focused on specific steps to downsize government.
I studied RS’s platform. There are a few bones in there, but mostly empty rhetoric that is more process than substance.”
Excellent post.
I did the same as you, and reached the same conclusion.
This is an excellent 6-min video on RS and it is easy to understand, even for the politically nonchalant... and every tea party member, or so-called, needs to watch it... it is about big govt and how much santorum supported it, how much he was bush’s lackey...
and the cha-ching quote: it’s not that Santorum is against big govt, he is very much for a BIG govt as long as it will promote his pro-family agenda... IOW compassionate conservativism; it opened my eyes...
I know lots of vids get posted here... but this was a breakthrough for me when I found it, something the lazy conservatives will sit through and get them thinking... I plan to use it alot!

"I have no question Newt Gingrich has the heart of a conservative reformer, the ability to rally and captivate the conservative movement, the courage to tell those Washington interests to take a hike if its what is in the best interests of the country." -Governor Rick Perry
"It is time for conservatives and Republicans to refocus their attention on the ultimate mission of defeating President Obama. I believe Speaker Gingrich is the bold leader we need to accomplish this mission." -Herman Cain
Newt exemplifies the conservative principles my father championed. Strong national defense, lower taxes and smaller government. -Michael Reagan
We need someone who has the courage and ability to communicate the truth to the American people. Someone who will explain the hard choices that we must make if we are to give our children and grandchildren the same opportunities our forefathers bestowed on us and avoid the fate that other great nations have suffered throughout history. I believe that person is Newt Gingrich. And that is why I strongly support him. -Fred Thompson
"Newt Gingrich presents the best chance for this country to defeat Barack Obama, and he is the only candidate who will lead the country with solutions that strengthen the economy as well as fight back the damage done by the current administration." -Kellyanne Conway
My wife, Gena, and I sincerely believe former Speaker Newt Gingrich is the answer and deserves our endorsement and vote We believe Newts experience, leadership, knowledge, wisdom, faith and even humility to learn from his failures (personal and public) can return America to her glory days. And he is the best man left on the battlefield who is able to outwit, outplay and outlast Obama and his campaign machine. -Chuck Norris
When you consider where we are today, and you think about the good, old days of balanced budgets, entitlement reform, and paying down our National debt, getting tax relief; as a Republican majority, Newt Gingrich was the Speaker, we haven't seen things like that in the last thirteen years. I am looking for somebody that will be willing to do the heavy lifting to get us to where we all want to be as a nation, and I think Newt fits that profile.-Congressman J.C. Watts
Newt Gingrich has the solutions and ideas we need to restore this country to the greatness that it was founded upon, and Im proud to stand with him in this fight. -Iowa House Majority Leader Linda Upmeyer
“Yeah RS is not the answer unless you want more of the same old failed policies of the past. Newt is the one talking about real positive change.”
Newt 2012 National Security Advisor Stephen Yates shared the following statement in response to Senator Rick Santorum’s criticism of Newt Gingrich’s American space policy:
“I am deeply concerned that Senator Santorum so easily relinquishes space development to the Chinese and Russians.
“American success in space is not only about being the first to develop a station on the moon. It is just as much about the explosion of math, science, engineering and national security technology that will launch America into a new age of innovation and prosperity.
“We owe it to ourselves to set grandiose goals and then achieve them. It is the American way.”
Maybe not. I also thought I wasted a vote during the Florida primary but got back and checked the results to find that county-by-county Newt was damn close. Secondly the total number of votes cast in the primary was up, meaning there were more Republicans (or faux-Republicans [aka Democrats]) paying attention and a least voting. This uptick could indicate more Republicans will take this election seriously and get out and vote come November.
“Its time!
Its time for conservatives, Tea Party voters, libertarians, Reagan Democrats and all others who want to see conservative change in Washington to begin ignoring the Republican establishment, their pundits in the media, the Washington-New York Boston power brokers and the MSM and make up their minds.
If we want a moderate Republican who will lose to Obama this November, then keep splitting the vote between Gingrich, Santorum and Paul. If we keep changing Republican alternatives to Romney (the MSM-Republican establishment template established early in 2011), then well still get Romney.
If we can overlook all the warts, foibles and the irascible demeanor, Newt Gingrich is the only one who can handle himself in debates and the ongoing media war on conservatives and the Tea Party that will drastically escalate in a few months. Santorum is a good guy but its possible hes a pawn of the Republican establishment essentially helping Romney and the MSM destroy the one person they fear Newt Gingrich.”
Here is another great article which was not posted at FR:
“Newts Plan, Mitts Morass. Newts boldness trumps Mitts meekness,” by DEROY MURDOCK
Newt Gingrich used his Sunshine State effort to showcase his voluntary 15 percent flat tax 2012s smartest idea yet, both strategically and substantively. Through the November 6 election, this concept can inoculate Republicans from the Democrats ceaseless lies about the wealthy not paying their fair share of taxes. And, if implemented, Gingrichs prescription would reinvigorate Americas feeble economy.
Among the barbs that Gingrich and Willard Mitt Romney traded, the former House speaker made this generous-sounding comment at the January 23 Tampa debate:
Im prepared to describe my 15 percent flat tax as the Mitt Romney flat tax, Gingrich declared. Id like to bring everybody else down to Mitts rate, not try to bring him up to some other rate.
As Gingrich further explained at the January 26 Jacksonville face-off:
“I have proposed an alternative flat tax that people could fill out where you could either keep the current system this is what they do in Hong Kong . . . with all of its deductions and all its paperwork, or youd have a single page: I earned this amount. I have this number of dependents. Here is 15 percent. My goal is to shrink the government to fit the revenue, not to raise the revenue to catch up with the government.”
Gingrichs initiative is excellent politics. President Obama and his liberal pals simply refuse to acknowledge the latest IRS data, which irrefutably demonstrate that the oft-excoriated top 1 percent of filers in 2009 generated 16.9 percent of the nations income and paid 36.7 percent of its income tax. Meanwhile, the Tax Policy Center reported last August that in 2011, those earning between $20,000 and $30,000 paid an effective rate of 5.7 percent in combined income, payroll, corporate, and death taxes. Those who made at least $1 million paid 29.1 percent.
Yet again, Obama ignored these facts when he told the National Prayer Breakfast last Thursday, Its hard for me to ask seniors on a fixed income or young people with student loans or middle-class families who can barely pay the bills to shoulder the burden alone.
Alone?
If Obama spent 30 seconds with these statistics, he would see how grossly dishonest his statement was and at a prayer breakfast, no less!
Nonetheless, Obama and his battalions of class warriors demand the Buffett rule, which would make every millionaire pay at least a 30 percent tax rate. Presumably, this is fairer than letting them pay a lower percentage of their incomes in taxes than do their secretaries. Giga-wealthy investor Warren Buffett claims that he pays a smaller share of his income in taxes than does his secretary, Debbie Bosanek. Buffett could reverse this today by paying himself more than a mere $100,000 in salary and taking less of his income in capital gains. This quickly would move him from a 15 percent rate to 35 percent. Buffet should do this right now, or stop whining.
If Americans seek fairness, why hike the share of anyones income sent to Washington? Instead, free everyone to choose an equal and lower rate. Even as an option, this would depopulate Americas tax shelters. Simplicity and much-curtailed compliance costs have their own appeal.
Even at 15 percent, the rich will pay more than those less affluent. For arguments sake, someone who earns $100,000 would pay $15,000 in taxes, while someone who makes $100 million would pay $15 million. Delicate calculations confirm that $15 million exceeds $15,000. The rich will pay many more dollars in taxes, but as a proportion of income they will be equal with everyone else. Hello, fair share.
Gingrichs overhaul would kill taxes on death and capital gains while preserving the mortgage and charitable deductions and creating a $12,000 personal deduction.
Gingrich also would chop Americas corporate tax from 35 percent (the industrial worlds second highest, after Japans) to a flat 12.5 percent, which would tie Irelands as the lowest and most competitive among developed nations. Coupled with immediate 100 percent expensing of capital purchases, such a stimulus would unleash dramatic economic expansion rather than the Obama-style stimulus, which yields bankruptcies, layoffs, FBI raids, and billions of dollars smoldering in the headquarters of politically connected green companies.
Compared to Gingrichs gutsy blueprint, Romneys exhibits the caution that has made the former Massachusetts governor the Oh, well, if we must choice, even among his supporters.
While Romney would ditch the death tax and cut the corporate tax to 25 percent, he would preserve todays income-tax rates. He would scrap taxes on interest, capital gains, and dividends but echoing Obama only for those making less than $200,000.
Leading supply-siders consider Romney incapable of carrying the tax-reform torch. Mr. Romneys tax proposals, Arthur Laffer wrote in Tuesdays Wall Street Journal, dont have the boldness or internal integrity of Mr. Gingrichs personal and business flat taxes.
Romney is unwilling to fight for sweeping, Reaganesque tax cuts for fear Obama will hit him for helping himself and his rich friends, laments Steve Forbes, the publisher and free-market guru who has advocated a flat tax since his 1996 presidential bid. Romney is engaging in a preemptive surrender. Unfortunately for him, it wont save him from Obamas class warfare, and it tells voters that he doesnt have the stomach to push pro-growth measures that will rile the Washington establishment.
Republican primary voters now face mixed messengers: Gingrich possesses a luggage carousel worth of personal baggage, a visionary tax plan, and the courage of Godzilla. Romney presents a mere tote bag of quirks, a tepid tax proposal, and the bravery of a hummingbird.”
Other encouraging electoral numbers came with Florida election analysis that showed that
Gingrich had increased the Republican vote in nearly every county he carried while Romney had had the opposite effect,
a pattern that had been true in prior contests. Indeed, Fox News released last week a chart called by commentator Charles Krauthaummer the Gingrich graphic that showed that South Carolina which Gingrich won handily had a 22 percent increase in Republican voting while GOP balloting dropped off sharply in states won by other candidates.
THAT'S what you need to win a general election!
“I will be frightened for our country if Romney or Santorum wins.”
We’ve got to get Newt in there. He is the man for the times with a unique experience and the communication skills to lead slashing reforms of Washington.
We need a leader, not a manager in the midst of crisis. We need someone who can win — like Sanitarium who lost by 20 points in his own state last time. (This guy must be booking to be the big Rom’s VP).
Presidents from the House:
Great info- Thanks for that.
I will be frightened for our country if Romney or Santorum wins.
“We need a leader, not a manager in the midst of crisis. We need someone who can win like Sanitarium who lost by 20 points in his own state last time. (This guy must be booking to be the big Roms VP).”
Pro-big government Santorum in 2005: “they have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do. Government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulation low and that we shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural issues, you know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world, and I think most conservatives understand that individuals can’t go it alone...”
Santorum in 2006: “pursuit of happiness harms America”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03zFTTqHScI
“The Declaration of Independence provides us with the right to pursue happiness, but it does not guarantee that we are entitled to happiness. There is no provision for a federal department of happiness, no provision for happiness stamps for the under happy, and no provision that allows taking excess happiness from one group and redistributing it to the under happy.” Newt Gingrich, Sep 16, 2010
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWA4EmeaLgc
In his speech at the Faith and Freedom Conference, Newt uses Americans’ right to pursue happiness to explain the core weakness of Obama’s redistribution model.
Thanks, Marguerite. I can’t believe anyone thinks he is less than qualified.
GO NEWT!!
