Newt Gingrich wants America to know he's a lover, not a fighter.
The struggling Republican presidential candidate coyly dished on his Valentine's Day plans for third wife Callista, promising she would not be disappointed.
Gingrich was at a campaign stop in El Monte Calif. on Monday when an audience member asked what his Feb. 14 plans were.
"All I can promise is that I believe she will be quite happy," the ex-House Speaker said to hoots and whistles from the audience.
"I think for the first time in a while we'll have a private dinner and just hopefully exchange gifts and, you know reconnect a little bit," he said with a smile.
Gingrich then raised his arms in the air to wave off further questions, quickly adding "No more details!"
The intimate remarks come as Team Gingrich tries to rev up Callista's public presence on the campaign trail.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed that! His hypocrisy is stunning, really. The other day he was mocking Newt with his fellow hyenas, and in the next breath, without a beat, switched to his pious, syrupy voice and said,"Dark days are coming, and we all must be the light in the darkness." LOL! What a shyster.
Sleazy? A man going on a date with his wife is “sleazy”?
Good grief, people... get a grip. He was asked what his plans were for valentine’s day and he answered the question. What the heck is wrong with you people?

Hi CofA-
I am going to assume you meant Beck, not Newt, disgusts you. If not, I shall have to speak to King “Hank” about having you sent to your new abode in the Tower of London!
(Why does anyone listen or watch Glenn Blecch anymore???)
Take care,
-Geoff
What is it with women that they always have to be so catty and mean about other women?
This thread, as do many others, could use a few emoticons.
Ever since the Cain Train derailed, I've been in Newt's camp, despite my misgivings, that go back to 1994. I was way ahead of el Rushbo: Newt's multi-million dollar book advance just weeks after the 1994 elections was unseemly, even if it was legal. The attention it got, and the time spent arguing it, took away from the new Speaker's moral authority.
For lack of a better explanation, it's going to take a real SOB to beat Obama, and Newt is the biggest SOB we've got at the moment.
Perhaps you have suggestions on more proper things for him to spend his monies on?

Sure, he should get a popcorn machine like Beck. Then he should spend 10 minutes stuffing his face on camera with the popcorn, wait a week, then spend 10 minutes telling us what his wife allows him to eat and about his wife calling and having the popcorn machine removed. That is important stuff, ya know.
Ahem. Some of us are eating breakfast here.
LOL, I love your post. Yes, I was talking about Blecch. I admit I sometimes turn on his radio show to see what I can catch him saying, but it doesn't last for long because I get so sickened I have to turn him off.
Mr. Beck's motives are impeccible, just ask him, or his followers.
Besides, popcorn machines are way more important than silly stuff, like, you know, national decline and such.
Hmm, I wonder if Mr. Beck ever purchased jewelry for the missus? That would be grounds for serious impeachment of his motives.
Oh, please. As a Newt supporter, I have nothing against Callista and my remark didn't come from a "mean" intent. Women notice how other women look; that's a fact. My husband and I both guessed Callista's age at about 55. If a woman's hair and clothes are making her look ten years older, she could use some updating. Interpreting that as mean and catty is an overreaction.
Even so, to listen at all you obviously have a much stronger constitution than I!
Carry on “Kate” ...and Anne B says to watch out for the headsman!
going on a date with your wife isn’t sleazy... making a date with your wife an aspect of a presidential campaign, when it should be a private matter between you two, is.
a gentleman never kisses and tells. and keeps his personal relationships to himself.
LOL, Anne-—that wench!
I find that listening to Beck is taking an increasingly stronger constitution——stronger than the one I have.
I read an article on Yahoo today about Callista being “stabbed in back” by the shop girls at Neiman Marcus.
Maybe the shop girls would lose their jobs or get reprimanded at work for that; maybe not; but regardless, Callista should never shop at any Neiman Marcus again — she should take her business elsewhere — and anyone who supports Newt should do the same. Well, that’s what it seems like to me; that was my first reaction.
The employees at Neiman Marcus also said that Callista needs a makeover, etc. They mocked her for dressing conservatively or modestly.
I dress conservatively too, and was told bluntly that I “dress like a grandma.” But I don’t spend hundreds / thousands of dollars on clothes, of course, since I’m not rich like Callista. She can surely find some other place to buy clothes, other than Neiman Marcus.
There’s a reason why an employee shouldn’t do things like that — Their paycheck is tied to their customers.
LOL!
I don’t think that publicity about Newts love life is helpful to him. It’s time for him to endorse Santorum.
Stumping?
Is that what they’re calling it these days?
