Right-wingers for federal control

The tax-exempt sector is in trouble when even stern critics of big government demand that Congress and the IRS rein in nonprofits.

The latest example comes from the hard-right American Thinker website.

Unfortunately, the essay’s author hasn’t thought through her argument, which adopts the flawed thinking of her political opponents.

...Worst of all, she repeatedly attacks her targets by stressing how much money they have and how little control and taxation government exercises upon it.

Criticizing left-wing foundations and nonprofits is fine, but please don't sic the feds on all nonprofits! The bureaucrats have too much control over everyone to start with.

At this point, no one from the Right side of the isle thinks we need more government control. End of story.

A huge number of non-profits are nothing more than money laundering enterprises for hypocritical liberals.

Using government power for right-wing social engineering only abets the left in promoting the same power.

Big government should be used against big government and hopefully they cut each other down to size.

I find it incomprehensible how anyone could possibly continue donating to a non-profit which pays executive compensation over the $80,000 mark. I watch these idiots sitting there and calling up to make a donation to the local PBS station, knowing full well that the ‘station manager’ there is pulling down 70% of the salary as the station manager of the local NBC affiliate.

Would I like to see the feds get involved? Not really. Maybe simply a recording before any donation is made over the telephone explaining the compensation the three highest paid members of the organization receive. ‘The non-profit you are about to donate to has a president who receives a salary of $480,000, a home funded by the non-profit, as well as a retirement package of no less than $275,000 a year for the rest of his life, which kicks in after he's worked for five years. The chief financial officer ears $440,000 and receives...’

If anyone sticks on the line through all of that, more power to them throwing away their money, but at least it'll be done with the knowledge that they are not, in any shape or fashion, doing anything more than donating to cover the costs of the executives of that organization.
