At the beginning, the 2012 election was about jobs, jobs, and jobs. The culture wars have now reshaped the race, and the stakes, as Iran may eventually do in another sphere of policy. But what the Komen/Planned Parenthood and HHS-mandate battles ought to have made clear is that 2012 is, domestically, an election about the survival of civil society. Will Leviathan continue to trample the institutions of civil society at the behest of the champions of lifestyle libertinism? Something struck me when reading this article. These guys insist we not only allow them to do what they want, but that we join them in promoting and celebrating it. It reminded me of Lincoln's famous Cooper Union Speech, when he asked what would satisfy southerners.

This, and this only: cease to call slavery wrong, and join them in calling it right. And this must be done thoroughly - done in acts as well as in words. Silence will not be tolerated - we must place ourselves avowedly with them. Senator Douglas' new sedition law must be enacted and enforced, suppressing all declarations that slavery is wrong, whether made in politics, in presses, in pulpits, or in private. We must arrest and return their fugitive slaves with greedy pleasure. We must pull down our Free State constitutions. The whole atmosphere must be disinfected from all taint of opposition to slavery, before they will cease to believe that all their troubles proceed from us.

This is the same crap that Protestants from England and Germany ran from in the 17th and 18th centuries to colonize America. It was supposedly prevented by our First Amendment - that there shall be no "Established Religion", i.e., a State Religion which all must bow to...at some level or another.
Call it the revenge of the Princes. Or, in the case of the homos, Revenge of the Queens.
