The authorities have banned photography of the damage, conscious that vandalism of this kind which echoes the 2001 destruction of the Bamiyan Buddha statues in Afghanistan by the Taliban is damaging for the nation’s image.

I don't blame them for wanting to hide what happened. Everyone involved in destroying the Bamiyan Buddhas is dead now. Unfortunately for the Maldivian vandals the energy involved doesn't require publicity to identify and find them. No person formed a plan to retaliate against the bombers of Bamiyan because of what they did to the statues. The ones who did it directed that energy at themselves and by their own actions and intentions designed the form of it.

Agreed. There will be a few dozen floaters off shore the Maldives. Why do humans curse themselves so?

The Maldives are now lost to the Kaliyuga. Thats the sad result, they now are under a pall of the Setting Sun, and they go without a whimper into that darkness.
