Such remarks may please some social conservatives who were never that keen on women serving in the military, but this may not sit well with women who work, sometimes in male-dominated jobs.

I have an aunt who passed away last October. She served as an Army nurse on active duty for 26 years with duty in both Korea and Vietnam, retiring as a full Colonel in the early 1970's. That's a fact.
In 2005 she celebrated her 80th birthday. Our family sent letters to members of the PA congressional delegation asking if they would care to participate in, or recognize her birthday.
One member of the delegation bothered to respond.
That member sent a very personal letter thanking my aunt for her years of service and her dedication to the defense of this nation.
That member was Senator Santorum.
That sir, is a fact.
To post something that suggests, or misrepresent's Santorum's views on women in uniform, is dishonest.

Certainly, because women across all demographics are clamoring for their daughters to be cannon fodder for jihadists in the Mideast and Northern Africa.
I thought that was exactly what happened when the IDF tried using women in combat; it was traumatizing for the men to see them wounded/killed.

I remember the “Love Boat” in the first Gulf War, which had a high number of pregnancies on its deployment; every one of those women, and the “baby-daddys” if they could be identified, should have been dishonorably discharged. They liked cashing the checks and the bennies, but when the time came to step up they lay down - what a disgrace (and a blow to “equality”).

Who is supposed to impregnate the women? I work with several women who refused to have children; they’re expendable, as long as someone will look after their dog/cat. All they do is complain at work how women with children have allowances made for them in terms of work schedules, and that any company picnic that includes employees’ children should include their pets as well; I have no problem with these biologically unproductive women serving in frontline units.
The article contained quotes about Santorum, quotes, it wasn’t an editorial. It supplied quotes, that is why I posted it.
God bless your Aunt, God bless her for her years of service, she must have been one of the pioneer women in the military who made it so much easier for military women of today... And I have no doubt Santorum, or his office, would do something that thoughtful. No doubt. But then, I know people from PA, and I know lots of people from the military, and I know they all, each one, are gold... but not everybody knows that, like you and I do. And Santorum says a lot of judgmental things that turn the average person off... that was my point of the post..
A friend of mine recently sent Callista an IM, and asked her if Newt could send his 80-year old father, a veteran, a birthday card. Well, not only did Callista follow up, Newt actually called the man, and they had a wonderful little chat, and I am sure it meant a great deal to him.
Would that make you feel different about supporting Newt as a candidate, or feel differently about his policies? Probably not, and I wouldn’t expect it to. But Santorum has said a lot of judgmental and hypocritical things, and he is going to pay for them as they are revealed.
I read through that FR thread and your Aunt was a beautiful woman, and the one graphic with the plane and the TAPs was so beautiful it hurt. I couldn’t get the Indiana Gazette to pull up the article for me though.

That was nice of Sen. Santorum. I’m glad to hear of it.
But then he does other stuff, like exploiting his disabled daughter’s illness for political points when in reality he was already going home to do his taxes. That is truly disgusting!

He reminds me so much of President Jimmy Carter it is disheartening. People believed Carter was such a decent Christian and they voted for him on that reasoning alone. Yech!

Sure, it "may not sit well with women who work," then again, it may. Or more likely, like most things military related, the populace at large will remain willfully oblivious. Rubin's comments between the Santorum quotes are anything but objective, and her support for Romney throughout this campaign has been more than obvious.
My point in posting the anecdote about my aunt's birthday was a simple refutation of the suggestion that somehow Santorum is opposed to women in the military. I have direct personal experience and knowledge to the contrary.
Many women, he adds, have told him that it is more “socially affirming to work outside the home than to give up their careers to take care of their children.” That ideology, he says, has been shaped by feminists who demean the work of women who stay at home as primary caregivers.He's got that right. I think women should work if they want, but it's disgusting how those pretending to care about women have done their best to force women into work they don't want, by demeaning choices (like having a baby) that the feminists don't like.
I’m against women serving in combat roles, granted a lot of modern women are very unlady-like in their attitudes and demeanor. I’m picturing the women of yesteryear, the skirt wearing, demure, Donna Reeds in the bygone eras and could never imagine them on the front lines of war! Nor can I imagine the man of yesteryear thinking about, let alone suggesting, that women should be in that position. I guess I’m an old soul and born in the wrong generation but I long for the days when the gender lines were pretty firmly in place.

We don’t know if he’s an idiot or not, so we don’t know what his view on the subject matter is.
Someone posted me about Sanctimonium saying in a debate, that the reason he intervened in the Schiavo incident was because they were his constituents, but they moved to FL in 1986. And I have also heard him say, he just happened to be in FL for a fundraiser while the controversy was going on. So which is it? Why not just say the truth? Whatever it was?
There are just a million little things like that, which he lies about. Unless you listen closely, you aren’t aware of it though. And then he tops it off with statements about personal baggage, that he has none, and has the caliber of character people are looking for in a President, and the ever-popular, a few days ago in CO, “God called me to run.” It’s over the top in my estimation.

I’ve read a few comments by his constituents, and what you are saying is consistent with their statements.
Many folks do not know this, but Newt Gingrich was a mentor to Rick Santorum when he was first elected and arrived in the House of Representatives.
A few weeks ago Santorum claimed he was “the go to guy” for the coup against Gingrich, back in the 90s. What a shocking thing for a ‘moral’ person to claim, boasting of his own deceit!
A first criteria in any candidate for Republican President is that he/she be honest. That is why I reject Romney and Paul - they’re both liars. And now Santorum?!
