Oh boy — that’ll be yumm.
I know you’ll enjoy. I never
knew there was so much good
hidden meat you couldn’t really
see before on the stripped bone
until the cooking separated the
various components. There was a
huge treasure trove there of sweet
meat hiding to shred and add to
the soup.

Then again, I never had such a
humongous ham bone before .. ;)

Oh darlin!

Even to boil hocks with black eyes on New Years... there’s those little treasures that fall off the bone. I’ll cool them off and pick every tasty morsel to put back in the batch, no matter how tiny. My kids will savor the rewards of the fastidious cook, and they will help, and learn. Someday, they’ll be serving me hoppin john, cooked with the same respect I taught them! I love my life! I love cooking!

A hambone? Mother lode!
