Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich previewed a new line of attack against former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney: hitting him on gun rights.
In a new web site, romneyguns.com, Gingrich poked fun at Romney for his much-ridiculed 2008 comment that he hunts “small varmints.” The site features a graphic of a suit-wearing Romney holding a gun and wearing a hunting cap.
The site charges that Romney supported the Brady Bill, which mandated federal background checks on gun buyers, raised fees for Massachusetts gun owners, and supported tough gun laws in Massachusetts.
A Gingrich video shows a series of news clips, including one from Romney’s 2002 gubernatorial race of Romney saying he supports Massachusetts’ gun laws. “We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts. I support them,” Romney says. “I won’t chip away at them. I believe they help protect us and provide for our safety.” The site lets supporters download Facebook icons featuring pictures of “Deer for Romney” and “Quail for Romney.”
The fee hike Gingrich referred to came in 2003, when Romney raised numerous fees and closed tax loopholes to plug a budget deficit. He proposed raising the fee for gun licenses from $25 to $75, and the Legislature increased it to $100. Romney also worked to increase the duration of a gun license from four to six years, mitigating the fee increase. Romney supported the Brady Bill during his 1994 Senate race against Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy.

Does anyone notice how fluid Mittens is in these old clips where he is pushing Socialism and Statism as opposed to when he tries to sound like a Conservative and stumbles and misspeaks? I don’t think there is any doubt as to who the real Milt is.

This is why Romney is DOA. I’d rather have an outright liberal try and ban guns.

He will probably be asked about it in detail if he ever comes to Mississippi and if he will take questions. He doesn’t appear to be open to questions from voters.

Mitt bought a life membership last time he ran, and a week later did a photo-op at Shot Show with Wayne LaPierre.
As for his belief in the Second Amendment, apparently his belief is the same as every Dem politician, that is, undefined. Does he think it has something to do with hunting, or maybe self-defense, or maybe what they talked about in the Federalist Papers?
Mittens doesn’t quite understand the phrase “Shall not be infringed”.
Just take a look at Mass gun laws, you can bet he wants this as the minimum for the other 49 states.
A neo-liberal like Romney could get a large number of republicrat congress-critters (RINO-types) to vote for any or all of his proposed anti-gun laws -- even though the very same 'critters' would vehemently oppose the very same proposed anti-gun laws if they were recommended by a democrat president.
If Romney has any core beliefs I do not believe they are Conservative. I think his NRA membership and photo-op with Wayne LaPierre are only what he thinks he must do to become president. He must think Conservatives are stupid. I know that not all gunowners are Conservative, but they should be.
