On "CBS This Morning," Thursday, J.C. Penney chief executive officer Ron Johnson, said...

This is such a transparent PR stunt. Johnson is laughing at people he thinks are idiots for taking the bait and giving him exactly the visibility he wanted.

DeGeneres can do whatever she wants. I don’t care.

But JC Penney can’t pretend that what they’re doing isn’t helping to promote a political agenda.

They’ve taken sides in a pop culture battle.

Ron Johnson told Steve Jobs he was leaving Apple for JC Penney

Johnson describes the move as very similar in comparison to his move from Target in the late 1990s to Apple

NEW PLAN for JC Penney:

Johnson broke down the plan into the retailing six P’s: Price, Personality, Product, Promotion, Place and Presentation.

http://articles.businessinsider.com/2012-01-26/strategy/30665788_1_reasonable-prices-promotions-apple#ixzz1ltnLx2lX

With the new plan, instead of getting people in four times a year, JC Penney hopes to draw them in just once a month. If they’re successful in that, they’d triple their business from promotions.

Along with the new logo, in hand with the 12 promotions a year, each month will receive a color. That color will be reflected on the outside of the store with lighting fixtures, in the 96-page booklet JC Penney will mail to its customers and inside the store in the frames and photos.

Classic JC Penney brands such as IZOD, Arizona Jeans, Liz Claiborne and St. John’s Bay already have plans for their shops in the works. New partners such Martha Stewart and L’Amour by Nanette Lepore will also have stores.

QUOTE: “I didn’t come here to improve. I came here to transform. Every single leader in America who works to improve their business year after year...can create gradual results, but the only question is, how fast did you improve compared to someone else? You don’t fundamentally change your position in the marketplace.”

So you are a retail firm fighting for every dollar in tough times and what do you do? “Right” or “wrong,” you go out and offend your shoppers.

Let me run out and buy that stock.

I’ve noticed that they seem to be changing their “brand” from J. C. Penney to jcp. I worked for them in college, at a time when Mr. Penney’s picture hung in every store — over the elevators. He must have been in his 80’s at the time, if he was still alive. But his ideas of customer service and honesty in business permeated the culture.

Seems things have degenerated since then — perhaps that is why their spokesperson is now DeGeneres...;^)

Jan 25, 2012

Before Ron Johnson took the stage yesterday to unveil his revival plan for J.C. Penney Co. (JCP), William Ackman, the chain’s largest shareholder, vowed it would be the most important day for retailing in 25 years.

Investors differed, and the shares sank during Johnson’s 90-minute presentation. It was a signal that his plan fell short of the excitement that has followed Johnson since he became chief executive officer in June after turning Apple Inc. (AAPL) stores into the world’s most successful retail operation.

JC Penny pretends that they don't understand the symbol their promoting, but their own words belie them.

J.C. Penney chief executive officer Ron Johnson, said the company "shares the same values" as DeGeneres

Essentially, they say they believe in behavior that leads to early death, disease, mental illness, and distorted values. They believe in the unnatural.

And they believe they are exalted and no other.

But a group called One Million Moms is accusing the company of “jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon.”
............................................................

J.C. Penney just admitted that is exactly what they are doing.

On “CBS This Morning,” Thursday, J.C. Penney chief executive officer Ron Johnson, said the company “shares the same values” as DeGeneres and that the decision to have her as a spokesperson was a “no-brainer.”

Evidently they feel there are enough Dykes to keep them in business.

That was one of the stores I USED TO SHOP AT.

I've fired off my notice to them that caving to sex deivates just took them off my list of "places to shop".

I do not do this in my business, it’s not the place for it....counter productive too

course airhead America could care less, they slopped at Oprah’s trough long enough

sad...

I have worked at JCP for nearly three years now. It is the same as any other corporation, with mandatory classes that emphasize diversity and sensitivity to “others” and has a zero tolerance policy for anyone who does not comply with their idea of tolerance.

Ellen Degeneres was chosen for two reasons. She is the most popular daytime personality on TV, hands down and those are the moms the company wants shopping regularly. And she used to work for the company when she was a teen.

To Ron Johnson, that is the perfect match.

I am not a fan, though it seems that Ellen has done some generous things over the years that make people see her as a good person. I am not impressed, it’s easy to do these things when you are famous and have companies willing to pony up goods and services for the free publicity. Like most “stars”, using their fame to get others to donate, without giving of their own wealth.

Those of us who are just the peons in the trenches at penney’s are skeptical about all the changes. Time will tell. We were not asked our opinions on anything and if the company suffers so do we.

I am seriously considering a move, but in Vegas, there are not a lot of jobs up for grabs right now, especially for those who have no specialized training or a college degree.

I don’t blame anyone for choosing not to shop there because of Ellen, it’s their right, but I need this job and walking away because of Ellen is not an option, until and unless another one that pays as well, and has the flexibility of schedule comes along.
