ACLU: The American Civil Liberty Union announced today that President Obamas decision to mandate coverage for birth control does not violate religious liberty. The ACLUs Alicia Gay warns that the powerful lobbying arm of the Catholic Church mistakenly claims that the HHS contraception mandate violates their religious liberty.
Individuals who choose not to pay for employees contraceptives, the ACLU counters, are forcing their beliefs on their employees.
The fundamental promise of religious liberty in this country doesnt create a right to impose those views on others, including ignoring civil rights laws or denying critical health care, Gay insists.
Somehow in the ACLUs backwards world they think that the wall of seperation between church and state is only for the church to not infringe upon the government. It is laughable because the founders clear intent was to keep government out of religion. It isnt shocking, theyve held this belief forever. If an individual wants to mention Jesus in a graduation speech they think it is the beginning of the end, but government forcing a religion to violate its own beliefs is A OK with this dangerous organization.

can’t they be sued for false advertising, claiming to be “American” and “Civil”?
Yes, I admit to being puzzled by that point. The only answers I have to deal with that are 1) Obama is really THAT stupid/narcissistic. 2)Given the extended time they have been thinking about it, there is some well thought out "plan". I take your point, but I think I'll go with 2) a "plan". Thanks.
This is apparently the basis of that "plan". Obama emphasizes "contraception" (not abortion), hands this off to his media empire to brainwash the average American, AND the more outrage the better because it takes the emphasis off of the economy. (If you're sitting around the house on a government paycheck, maybe birth control is more important than a job ;-)
This might also have been done with the assumption that he will go up against Romney and Romney apparently has some baggage in this area (whereas Santorum has more standing with regard to fighting Obamacare and the HHS mandate, but will be weaker regarding birth control).

Could you imagine if the Catholic church said as of Jan 1 next year, only Catholics can work for us, go to our hospitals, and eat at our food kitchens? Because that's the only way to get an exemption to the law. Obama is a horrible person. Catholics try to help everyone and as of next year can only do so if they compromise their beliefs. I know a lot of people ask to be taken to a Catholic hospital if they feel they are near death, because even if they are not Catholic they know people that believe in Jesus Christ will be there and a Priest will always be around to pray with them regardless of their religion.
This is just exactly the position we would expect communists to take.
