he change, which took effect yesterday, was included in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act, which President Barack Obama signed into law Dec. 31.
The act called for DOD to pay service members imminent danger pay only for the time they spend in areas that qualify for the pay. In the past, service members received $225 per month if they spent any time that month in an area where the pay was authorized.
Now, service members will receive $7.50 a day for days spent in these areas.
Barry, Joe, Michelle and Jill just love and adore the military. Especially the military families. Just ask them, they’ll tell ya!

That combat pay premium is pretty pathetic to begin with. However, pro-rating for days actively served is not unfair or anything.
I’d advocate much more than seven *od-damned fifty per day for the risk, though.
Its basically the same per month, it saves the military money by doing it daily. before all or part of a month you got the pay, now if its only 15 days in that month, you get 15x7.50
What is really mind boggling is that combat pay, putting your life on the line is worth about 7.50 a day :) Mind you I was a REMF when I was in, but I had many friends in harms way... for 7.50 a day, meals paid for when they arrived!
Hey, they can also pro-rate unemployment pay! And welfare! I mean, it’s good enough for our brave warfighters, right?
During my war (errr conflict), headquarters wienies from safe havens would come into Theater (the RVN) on the last day of the month and leave on the first; thereby they were eligible for two months combat pay/IRS income base pay exclusion (full pay for enlisted & $500 for officers as I recall).
I don’t think changing the prevailing rule to the one being instituted by this administration for combat pay is unreasonable.
When I was active duty, under Reagan, it was always on a per day basis.
It was passed in Congress, whose members can draw full retirement after one term in office. Our troopers have to survive 20 years to get 50%. When will we have enough of these elitist bastards?
Too bad the 28th Amendment (all laws, etc. pertain equally to Congress and citizens) isn’t for real, but how would it ever pass?
