The NFL apologized today for rapper M.I.A.s super inappropriate Super Bowl gesture. But her flashing of the middle finger during the halftime show wasnt the only display that had a parents watchdog group up in arms last night.
This years commercials, which began airing at 6:30 pm, a time when millions of children could be tuning in, were racier and more sexually suggestive than ever, according to the Parents Television Council.

Several of the ads were over the edge into Porn.
Whatever. Hasn't the obligatory apology for an offensive half-time show become a part of the Super Bowl ritual by now?
TV is for tools.
Of about 3 that I saw as a rerun, they were horrible and suggestive as you say. The media was laughing and telling us which they liked the best. Disgusting behavior.
The Dorritos one, baby in a sling and crabs the dorritos. That would be CHILD ABUSE.
The Fiat one: Jerky Nerd trying to lick the cream off the slut.
CHEVY: Horrible.....unless one likes total destruction of America.
The hosts were hahahahaing, what kind of intellect is that?
I love humor, but these commercials were sick, but I suppose this is the world we live today, and THEY VOTE, no wonder we are in this mess.
HOW TO FIX THE SUPERBOWL HALFTIME SHOW.
Combine the commercials and the show. Call it DEATH RACE HOLLYWOOD. Have the Chevy Trucks on the field, with their lights on, and every time their lights hit a ‘STAR’, they explode like a fireworks display.
Now THAT (as the Romans used to say) would be ENTERTAINMENT.
Say WHAT????
That was one of the very few of SB commercials that was plain, good clean fun.
I watched Huck at halftime....it was excellent (and I’m not that much of a Huckabee guy!)
Other networks should time their shows to halftime, so when you flip the channel a minute after the whistle, THEIR halftime show begins.
So I didn’t know anything about Madonna or KIA or whatever (Why would they call a car “Killed In Action?”).
Not to mention the obscenity shown during the halftime show.
HUZZAH!!!
Bring back, Up With People!
NFL=crony capitalism and is not appropriate for conservatives.
I asked this on another thread and never got an answer, so I’ll try again on this one. Was the Randall Terry ad that was supposed to be a very graphic pro-life ad ever shown? I had to miss part of the Super Bowl, and was wondering if I missed it, or if it was never shown?
Every switch to commercial break - I switch to a Chrsitian music channel - then back for the game.
Even if I wasn't sitting with my 10-year old daugher I'd switch.
I NEVER let my 10 yr old son watch televised professional sporting event alone. The commercials of these shows celebrate boobs and sex, and I don’t want him to be exposed to all that before he is ready. When we watched the super bowl on the computer this time, I would minimize the TV window into the dock and turn the sound waaaaay down, so a not to let the filth into my house, unattended.
What a shame. I remember in the past watching the SB for the clever commercials. Now the commercials and the halftime show are off limits for my family.
Watched the game with my boys. We DVR’d it, and started watching around 8. We skipped all the commercials and most of the dead time between plays. We ended up watching the entire game in about an hour and a half.
IMHO, the GoDaddy commercial was over the top. “Two spots”? (I thought the spots were meant to be the nipples but perhaps I interpreted too much). The M&M commercial was funny to me. I wasn’t offended by the “suggestion” that the one candy ripped off his sugar coated shell. I didn’t mind the Dorito commercials at all. I wasn’t offended by the “joke” of a dog eating a cat or the slingshot baby. Just my two cents worth.
The group I watched the Superbowl in included pre-teen and teen boys. It’s a good thing we were watching delayed on the DVR. We pushed the skip forward button quite a few times.
I’m sick of the apologies from NBC, NFL, et. al. They are entirely capable of putting on a clean show if it were important to them. But, it’s not.
Even during the World Series, they were full of ads for Cialis and Viagara.
