The Texans lead as usual. I live in the greatest state in the greatest nation on earf. We have half the money and most of the brains in America. If you might feel otherwise, show me the money.
We are so awesome. God Bless Texas, and God Bless America.
To quote old Sam: Do right, and risk the consequences.
Your funny statement will surely raise the ire of other states to outperform. haa!! good on you!
Picture this: You wake up one morning and Freeper is gone. Repeat that - You wake up one morning and Freeper is gone.
Do as I have done - donate monthly! WaterYouWaitinFor???????
Get ON it.
Okay. I’m one of the lowly ten bucks a month club, but I’d sure miss FR if it disappeared. Count me in for an extra twenty in the morning in the SAY NO TO ROMNEY caucus I’ll be attending in Minnesota tomorrow night.
Thank You!
Go get ‘em at your cacus tomorrow!

There is NO “lowly any amount of $$$ a month club”. Every dollar is another dollar toward the goal and thanks for giving!
We have many, many readers that don’t bother to give that could and many that wish they could but can’t afford to right now. The not being able to afford it I understand. The lurking and not donating I don’t.
Thanks again mplsconservative and good luck tomorrow!
Don’t belittle yourself FReeper. You give a lot more than many of the regulars, prolly more than all the lurkers, and def more than the trolls.
Rejoice in what you do to keep the lights on around here. I wish I could do more, but I have a crazy wife that starts home remodels by prying paneling off the wall with a screwdriver before I get home. Resulting in thousands of my dollars evaporating making it all right again.
I do a dollar a day, and I gar-on-tee I get more laughs and insights hanging around here than any amount of money will ever replace.
Good on ya mate.

Hello Chuck.
Yes, we Texans are awesome.
I use FReeRepublic as my home page and love it!
There isn’t enough time in the day to find out news, sports, armed services information;entertainment, recipes, gardening, dog/cat info, name it we have on FReeRepublic. Ask a question here you will get an answer:)
I am a Dollar a Day member on FReeRepublic. Worth every dollar for me, how about you!
Thank you FReeRepublic.
Please consider donating to FReeRepublic,
Is there any place that lists how the donations are used?
I would be interested in making a contribution, but I would like to know how money has been spent in the past.
There really needs to be an easy way to give anonymously.
(Some people don’t want to be put on a list...)
Are you native?
I ain’t, but I got here as fast as the 20-mule team would carry me :)
We have to keep this place alive, it may be the Alamo of Freedom.
JimRob, you are one of my heroes. Keep up the good fight bro, I hope I can shake your hand one of these days.
Free Republic Monthly Budget
Once we get our monthly donations to the point where they will cover all of our expenses, we will not need to have fundraisers.
Est. Recurring Monthly Contributions $11,762
Monthly Expenses
Bandwidth and Colocation $2,430
System Administation and Programming 7,000
Administrative and Taxes 13,500
Legal and Accounting 1,000
Bank Fees, Credit Card Fees, Processing Fees 900
Equip, Maintenance and Repairs 600
Office Expenses, Rents, Insurance, Telephone, ISP, Supplies, Misc. 2,500
Travel Expenses 1,200 29,130
Est. Monthly Shortfall ($17,368)
That all looks perfectly reasonable to me Jim
I will make my contribution soon.
I love FR, but it seems every time I contribute, the system runs slower than before. I make a post and it takes forever. Even logging on seems to take quite a while.
What’s with that?
1. Annually how much of the budget goes to pay what individuals including all compensation (including expense accounts and taxes) for LLC partners, employees, vendors and professional services, and what do they do for that money. In particular, how do the budget items “programming” and “administration” break down. This budget item appears to be the lions share of the annual budget, aproaching well over 200k for the year. Over the course of FR’s 14 year history, what is the total compensation paid to these individuals?
2. The budget lists 12,000/year for accounting and legal. Who is our legal counsel and how much have and are they being paid? Who is the accountant/bookeeper and what are they paid to do?
3. The budget lists a lot for travel. What “travel” does FR need to keep the site up and running?
4. The budget lists items for insurance and rents. What insurance are we paying for and to whom and how much are we paying rent, to whom and for what?
5. Also, for programming at $700/mo. What programming is needed? The site hasn’t changed in years.
Thx
“5. Also, for programming at $700/mo. What programming is needed? The site hasnt changed in years.”
Make that $7000/mo. That is a full-time salary.
You can give anonymously. When you click the donation button I believe there is a box to check if you want the donation to be anonymous. If you mail in a check just write a note that you wish the same.
Many FReepers give quietly. I pinged onyx for verification of what I wrote.

Are you a retread? What was your former FR handle?
How much have you contributed that the expenses of this site are any business of yours?
