SAN DIEGO -- A federal judge heard arguments Monday in a case that could determine whether animals enjoy the same constitutional protection against slavery as human beings.
Sea World asked U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Miller to dismiss the case filed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Miller did not make an immediate ruling.
PETA named five orcas that were captured in the wild as plaintiffs and claims they are treated like slaves when forced to perform daily at Sea World parks in San Diego and Orlando, Fla.
PETA lawyer Jeffrey Kerr said it was a historic day.

More PETA caused crap.
God help us. The fact that some judge is even entertaining this and not throwing it out without review speaks volumes as to where we are as a nation. We have become completely unhinged. Judges read pretty much whatever they want into the Constitution. Now animals apparently may have rights. Its the sign of a country that isn't serious about its problems. Its a sign of a country that is swirling down the toilet.
Okay, let’s hear it from the plaintiffs’ own mouths.........everybody has the right to face their accuser in court..............put up or shut up..............

How does peta know that the whales approve of this crap?
Why should animals get Constitutional protections when Americans don’t?
If I ran sea world I’d say “OK guys, we’ll have a hell of a fish fry tonight....free beer included!!!”
Hope the Judge rules for the animals
No more pet registrations or licenses. After all how do you register your slave (pet)?
If the government wants to go after a dog or cat, well they better provide an attorney since the animal cannot provide for one and how do you fine an animal, they do not work or earn money!
Next time an animal control officer shows up at the door - Sorry but that dog of its own free will lives here, Im not responsible since no one can own an animal that would be slavery! Of course if you want to take the dog you better have a warrant! You know the dog has the same rights as a human!
If the case goes to trial the Orcas deserve a jury made up their peers. The trial could be held on a pier.
Yet, while going through all these public demonstrations of their devotion to animal rights, the evidence is that PETA hates animals.

PETA is a strong advocate of killing perfectly healthy animals instead of finding homes for them, is against trap-neuter-release programs, and opposes no-kill shelters.
This whole lawsuit is nothing but a publicity stunt meant to line PETA’s pockets with donations from gullible animal-lovers.
Slave whales have already been tried. The soggy, salty cotton they produced could not come close to competing with the modern product, especially when the cost of feed was factored in.
LMAO that’s where my mind went...was going to suggest cranberry harvesting as an alternative as well, but alas, you won this particular race.
Hate to see this decided in CA. Guess we'll open the gates to the zoos and let them go.
