"I just want to say that the spin stops with you guys, and there is no spin in that ad. On this I am certain. l am certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama. It was meant to be a message about just about job growth and the spirit of America. I think all politicians will agree with it. I thought the spirit was OK....

Agreed. This ad is the kind of message that Americans used to rally behind. Now it truly is divisive, used by pols to score points.
If Obama, or even Bush got up on the firetruck again with a bullhorn, there'd be a bunch of catcalls.
We've just got not a whole lot of obvious things to be proud of anymore.
There is really quite a bit more than the rest of the world, but the whole world is in a Carter-type malaise right now, and America's down there with them.
It was "Morning in America" back then because we wanted to get up and go fight another day. Now lot's of people don't want to get back out there at all after halftime. To be fair, it's the first time I saw an American football game so "nuanced" that the Giants tried to NOT get a touchdown for some strategic thing and the "Patriots" -let- the other team score a touchdown so they'd get more free time to try to score.
I don't think Mean Joe Green or the guys back in the day would have understood "let them score so we have a chance to win." Such is the metaphor for our time?
What jumped out at me from the spot was Mr. Eastwood’s statement that we are in halftime, and the second half is about to begin. To me, that alluded to Obama’s second term—as if America should give him one. I know that may not at all be the intention of the writers (don’t know), but that’s the first thing I thought on viewing that ad.
The Democrats all seem to think it was a pro-Republican, 9/11-fetishizing, anti-Obama screed. So I guess Clint managed to piss off everybody. :)

The ad was in defense of the bailout and the reelection of Obama, i.e., the second half. The message wasn’t that subtle. It was pure propaganda from Government Motors.
The ad was emotionally appealing, but Detroit’s not coming back. Go look at it. Check out the people—no jobs, no education, no ambition.

For the life of me I cannot understand people and their desire to throw hissy fits over every thing.
Afterwards, reading the various commentaries, I get the point being made. This is the logical mess that is created by the Government going so far beyond the bounds of the Constitution - State-owned businesses for goodness sake!
If your company technically has used tax $$ to pay for an ad like that, you're gonna take the heat. Americans didn't use to pay for corporate advertising with their own tax $$.
blah blah blah... you know almost as little about football as politics.
a) The Kenyan lizard uses unwitting right wingers as props to support his policies. In this case the bailout of the UAW.
b) Running out the clock to prevent the opponent from scoring is a winning strategy. Unfortunately Bradshaw realized too late the Pats were going to let him score. He should have sat down and let the clock run out.

This country cant be knocked out with one punch. Yeah, its halftime America. And, our second half is about to begin.
That Clint Eastwood Chrysler ad was essentially a reelect Obama commercial, read a post on Democratic Underground featuring the video. The only extra commentary read: Without overtly saying it.
The Wall Street Journal and the Washington Examiner also drew the conclusion that the Chrysler ad shined a favorable light on Obamas first-term accomplishments.
Isnt this the exact same pitch Obama made at the State of the Union two weeks ago? Times were tough when I came into office, Carroll said. Times were tough when I came into office. But we acted like a team and bailed each other out. Now we need to come together as a team again and give me a second term.
The gritty two-minute spot featured actor/director Clint Eastwood, whose politics usually put him on the Republican side of the aisle, Hollywood Reporters Tina Daunt wrote. The Obama reelection campaign couldnt buy a better endorsement.
And so far, there seems to be no complaining as far as the Obama team is concerned: campaign adviser David Axelrod hailed the commercial a powerful spot on Twitter Sunday night, while White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer wrote, Saving the America Auto Industry: Something Eminem and Clint Eastwood can agree on.
Methinks Eastwood was duped. He’s on the record of being anti bailout and he’s no fan of Obama. Just a thought.
And this was blatant political propaganda on behalf of Obama.

Sometimes folks can be so cynical and picky.
Just bought my third Ford Escort, now known as the 2012 Ford Fiesta.
It was less expensive in real US dollars than my first Escort, bought in 1988, but technologically far superior.
Bought the car in part with the proceeds of the sale of Ford common stock that I had bought when Ford was on the ropes a few years back...it had doubled in price, and Ford had NOT taken the Federal Danegeld!
I love Ford and will buy nothing but. Inside of every Ford person is a
FReeper trying to get out. My advice is to go to Bill Currie Ford in Tampa, as I did, and ask for Ms. Barbara Stout. She, and that dealership, are the best in the world, as is Ford.

And what happens at half time? The team winning keeps that formula, while the losing team makes adjustments. America is losing, and we need to make adjustments. The first one being repalce Willie Beaman(sp). That is what I took from it.
