Which of the two front runners for the Republican Party presidential nomination have advocated the elimination of Jimmy's Department of Education.

The answer, of course, is neither one. They are not only familiar with large, obtrusive government, but would encourage it.

Do we need the Department of Education? Not only no but Hell No!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Read posts on almost any internet site, and if you judge by results, this DOE is not doing the job. If it doesn’t work, get rid of it.

When I tell a liberal we shoudl get rid of it, they give me that ‘you heartless b@stard look. How could I not care about education?

But its simple:

1. Has the nation operated without it in the past? (most liberals don’t know when it started)

2. Is education better or worse now that we have it? (not knowing the answer to question one, most liberals start stammering at this point...and the heartless b@stard meme goes into full force)

Its an obvious failure. If it had improved education in any way, at least we’d have something to argue about.

Sounds like you need to vote for Gary Johnson? Is he still running? no? Perry Maybe? Newt has made it clear that the Dept of ed is getting a haircut along with the rest of the federal govt.

But there is a difference between their positions on that issue.

Gingrich's campaign website expands on his debate response, saying that he would "shrink the federal Department of Education and return power to states and communities. The Department's only role will be to collect research and data and help find new and innovative approaches to then be adopted voluntarily at the local level."

Yes, we need the Dept of Education.

Where else would we put those who are so untalented, so idiotic, and so without creativity that they cannot work anywhere in the civilian world?

The problem is, however, that these slime molds actually have influence on our children.

And we are seeing the results.

Of course the answer is no, and I didn't even need a PhD to figure it out. Before the DOE, teachers used to be able to target their lessons to their audience. Thus when my high school Biology taught us in our farm town, he focused on nature observation and based lessons off of things that students encountered in their real lives. If you were serious about Biology as a career, you took Biology II.

Fast-forward to myself teaching Biology in a farm town. I was forced to start with extremely minute detail about biochemistry, cell organelles, and DNA. 3 out of 100 students were interested. But we are supposed to prepare the other 97 for scientific careers they will never have and don't have the ability to pursue even if they wanted them. Oh whoops, did I imply that not everyone has equal ability?

We need to get rid of this department along with nearly all other Federal bloat departments.

We need to get our debt paid off.

It’s just another unconstitutional, overreaching government agency.

It stifles free thought, individuality and independence while advancing socialism, conformity, groupthink and the interests of organized labor.

Do we need the Dept of Ed?

A simple test:

Do they teach, administrate, transport, or resource the local student? Answer: no.

There is no level of government needed above the level that accomplishes teaching, adminstering, transporting, or resourcing the local student.

Everything above them is simply handing down money for which they get to dictate regulations and methodology. Leave that money at home in the first place, and let the local people decide how best to educate their kids. They already are the ones doing the leg work. Leave them alone.

No you don’t need the department of education but it is here forever, once you create a government bureaucracy you can never get rid of it. It will take a special leader to eliminate this poor mistake and I don’t see any right now
