She always called him “Mr. President” — not Jack. He refused to kiss her on the lips when they made love. But Mimi Alford, a White House intern from New Jersey, was smitten nonetheless.

She was in the midst of an 18-month affair with the most powerful man in the world, sharing not only John F. Kennedy’s bed but also some of his darkest and most intimate moments.

In her explosive new tell-all, “Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath,” Alford, now a 69-year-old grandmother and retired New York City church administrator, sets the record straight in searingly candid detail. The book, out Wednesday was bought by The Post at a Manhattan bookstore.

In the summer of 1962, Alford was a slender, golden-haired 19-year-old debutante whose finishing-school polish and blueblood connections had landed her a job in the White House press office

In the summer of 1962...hmmm - I think M Monroe died during late summer of '62 - no wonder - the Kennedy boys had found someone to take her place......

The remark he would “rather his children were red than dead” mark him as a slimy traitor whose memory should not be worshipped.

Yeah, I know, right?
Like, I should know because I was, like, the grasssy knoll... man.
There I was in my tree togs, laying around minding my own business, then Hoover sent vicious cheerleaders out to do a rally cheer on me.
Stomped me flat.
Dude, it was horrible.

Imagine how the Fahnestock family feels. Not only did Tony die at an early age but now they find out she was cheating on him.

If so, I can’t help you; but, maybe a remedial reading comprehension course might.

Pretty much all the Kennedys, as far as I can see. Joe Kennedy, Sr., was a mobster, and over the years it seems to have run in the family. For several generations.

Drunken, womanizing, “I’m entitled” louts, just about all of them. JFK’s mother seems to have been a decent woman, and she managed to teach the brothers some manners, if not actually improve their behavior. So with the complicity of the media they got away with it.

What is wrong with you?

Is it a permanent condition?

JFK’s mother seems to have been a decent woman,...

Considering what she allowed Joe Sr. to do to her namesake, I gotta disagree. IMO, Eunice has made a career of doing penance for her parents' treatment of her sister.

...one seriously messed up family with enough ill gotten money to do as they damned well see fit.

True. Maybe I just should have left it that she taught them manners, how to behave as if they were just as good as those of the most select Bostonian birth, and not Chicago mobsters. And the press ate that up.

Now, of course, nobody is taught manners, so it’s less important whether you have any.

Seriously messed up is right.

JFK sent his wife and children away during the missile crisis but had Mimi come to DC. I suspect he wanted to make sure she wouldn’t be sobbing and blabbing to the press if DC and the White House got blown up.
